Daily update, not a lot more to say, the strikes are organizing pretty well, It -is- a lot better when the unions actually contribute their enormous logistical and manpower capabilities… Macron spoke, basically did 5 minutes defending the pension law, pretending everything was fine and he was “sorry people did not understand” and then did a basic bitch general policy speach.
His big argument for going through by force is “there is no alternative majority”, so basically he just told us that he didn’t give a crap about being hated by 3/4 of the people as long as those 3/4 were split in two slight minorities.
Tomorrow should be the first day of organized shutting it down, until now it was only local actions, it should be a single day because it’s a warning shot.
Since Macron obviously wont heed the warning, it should turn into a real infrastructure shutdown, I’d guess end of next week, organizing those takes time and planning when you are trying to shut the economy down while avoiding, you know, massive death tolls ^^
As an aside, yeah, it’s kind of a trivial thing, but it’s symbolic because the pension system is one of the remaining national systems from before neo-liberalism (It actually was created by Pétain), and sure, it’s got some budget issues but those would cost a lot less to fix than… for example… financing a war with Russia…
