I know it's more deeply embedded in the US, with religion & laws, so you are right in all that & you certainly have a POV & experience that I will bow to. I've had talks as a White person to other White folk, with people for whom hate is not their identity, they are overwhelmed with change. I had never heard her use the word, but I ended up having a conversation with an old woman on why it's never appropriate to use the n-word. She thought it a word for "lazy."
