Generally, compartmentalizing works very well because people tend to like being surrounded by people they agree with. After all, in many places, if you don't agree with the local consensus, you will constantly be bombarded with things that give negative feelings and very little in the way of confirmation. It's just what people like. That also is why echo chambers can come into being so easily.

Radical feminist content also has a more specific disadvantage when it comes to social media platforms. It's not easy and simple. There aren't many specific memes to share, so to say. So that means that more effort is needed than just reposting some anti-troon cartoons. It's the same reason why you don't see many deeper discussions on such platforms. Personally, I think that the old forum structure was much better than the Feed-based platforms like we're on, let alone image or short video based ones like Insta and TikTok. At least, for slightly more involved discussions. Real-life of course is infinitely better still.

That said, there is a reason why this style of platform has generally won out. For one, there are more systems to provide positive feedback to users but, perhaps more importantly, they are engineered to grab moments of attention and sharing along with the feeling of being more personal.
