Yup, c is confidence and r is rating.

The superscript is the observer and the subscript is the pubkey (or can be anything) being evaluated. So r_v^w is the rating of v by w, as you stated.

And in the equation, the grapevine score G on the left and on the right are the same context. This is what makes a score recursive. But there will be many use cases where it’s not recursive and therefore no need to iterate. If you want (non-bot) nostr users to vote on the best meme of the day so you can award it some sats, you run the above equation just once per meme to get its score.
