From what I understand, the artist (Peter Camani) is a retired school teacher. He bought a 300-acre property which included a former farm house, now turned into sort of a castle. Since he taught art, I guess in retirement he just continued doing what he liked, and it ended up like this. It's a fascinating place - lots of trails through forests and meadows.
