i normally make myself stay up a lot later but today i'm just kinda done

what did i do today?

finished all the nostr envelope codecs i was working on, and updated my benchmark repo to show i wrote better nostr codecs than fiatjaf and he used a code generator for one of them that is teh only one that bests my code

later in the day i have been starting work on rewriting the replicatr relay code, and have started pulling things in from it hoping it's not gonna be one of those things where you start with a little part and end up unraveling the whole sweater

i forgot how much i love this nirvana-inspired style of indie rock... just to drop another name Tumbleweed (australian band) is a good one in this genre

actually, come to think of it, listening to this track it's very clear how these guys (and nirvana) was influenced by Faith No More (their first album especially, with Chuck Mosely singing) oh man i could melt listening to this old stuff... yes, also soundgarden, it was a whole music movement for a time... and so chill and making you think and shit, and then pass the joint lol...

but there's a good chance it's not that messy, it's just still pulling more threads and more bits in at this point in the day i'm done with it for today... i guess i'll see how it continues to untangle tomorrow

yeah, my mother is a fanatical spinner and knitter... she taught me how to do the things with strings when i was 7, and then 2 years later there was a computer in the house and i applied the same kind of thinking to writing code, and i was hooked, but really, if i was a woman i'd be writing code to calm myself, writing code makes me calm

seems like i'm going off on a bit of a tangent here but i'll just blaim all this nostalgia for the old music and my yute...
