LN will not suffice.
But we should not discount what LN contributes.
How much does LN⚡️ multiply Bitcoin tx capacity by?
My estimate: BTC + LN⚡️ can do 10.000x more txs than just BTC.
BTC + LN⚡️+ custodials can scale to 100.000.000x more txs than just BTC.
Not perfect. But better than what we had before.
The real challenge will be to provide self-custody for sovereign individuals at global scale. However given the tiny demand for it at the moment, there are few incentives for entrepreneurs to invest in this yet.
However I do believe it is technically possible. Trustless utxo sharing, timelocks, multisig... the tools are there to build it. What is not there (yet) is 100 million users willing to pay 10.000 sats/year for the solution.
