Ukraine is a modern country with a well educated population, a GDP per capita proportional to Thailand, a booming IT business, and a considerable share of international food production, which makes Ukraine an important trading partner for Europe.
Anecdotally: I have friends in Denmark who work in companies that outsource their IT to Ukraine.
