yes underscore means don't store the result value, can also be used for ignoring elements of a return tuple, oh and can enable some compile-time checks on stuff like that a type implements an interface, no code gets generated but it ensures that the static check shows the interface is not implemented without actually using it (my IDE also shows icons on interface implementations)
