yeah, i hate that stuff just wants to emulate windows. there's no innovation or creativity.
anyway, i hope you can stomach gnome and get used to the workflow, but if you can't at least there's a DE you can use. I'd recommend Pantheon, but that's tied to an ubuntu based (elementaryOS)
