Never tried to give an LLM a behavior parity check request, but GLM 5.2 is pretty good at doing that without writing any new tests or external tools.

@nprofile…arr8 @nprofile…y6jc People used to reply to him on Mastodon about his videos sometimes in a snarky way (just like he does), which made him feel some type of way. Which eventually lead to him complaining about Mastodon/Fedi being annoying to use, because on Xitter those replies would be easily filtered from the view. He now mostly posts on bsky because of that.

@nprofile…cext @nprofile…gr3u Similarly, a lot of these "supply chain attacks" would never exist if every single one of these deranged language package managers didn't have post-install script hooks. A literal RCE the developer has on your system just by installing a package.

@nprofile…cext @nprofile…gr3u Code reuse as pushed by npm/crates was the hot topic back in the Internet boom, but the results over the years have clearly shown that the problems far outweigh the benefits. From left-pad to protestware nuking your system only because you have your locale set to something the dev doesn't like (Yes, this has actually happened multiple times already in the JS world.)

>This makes writing any sort of a generic kernel very difficult -- you literally have no idea what to expect.
aarch64 is similar in this regard when it comes to bootstrap. At some point the CPU reset vector was implementation defined. Where does the CPU go when reset is deasserted? Who the fuck know, read the datatsheet for the core. Then the new spec switched to two options, which of course a vendor can choose which. So now you at least have to options where a CPU might start executing instructions.
Meanwhile look at x86 and the thing did not change at all since the i386 and in some regards even before that. The reset vector is fixed, the same since the 386. Timers and other low-level peripherals, still the same. It still boots in dumb real mode, just like 8086. The system bootstrap and handoff to bootloader/kernel is almost written in stone.

owned by everyone in a democratic way. Or is that too socialist for your liking?
Communism didn't fail enough times already I guess. Democracy is a failed concept as well. If you make it democratic, eventually the people that want to be in power will get that power. And those people are almost never neutral. I don't need some random freaks to tell me "Ackshually chuddie, you can't say that on the Internet." Which is worse than status quo as at least now you have more than one tier 1 ISP, under your proposal you either have one, or many that eventually all converge on the same anti-neutral stance anyway.
So absolutely not, I would rather have the Internet controlled by 5 billionaires that at least pretend to care about being neutral when you give them money in exchange for peering. Than a bunch of control freaks whose goal is to have power over everyone.

I just think it should work differently. Preferably without ISPs at all.
I don't think that is possible, especially without ISPs. Someone has to own the backbone and own the hardware capable of handling tens of terabits while routing it correctly and without extra delays. Your Linux router can't even handle the Internet's full routing table as of now, and it certainly would not be able to deal with the even more fragmented routing without ISPs. Even only without residential/business ISPs.
Colocations for actual people = good
Multiple square kilometer Microsoft exclusive hyperscaler = bad
The hyperscalers weren't an issue until recently. Before AI it was only AWS and Cloudfed. It's a reasonable take except that most people don't have a need for collocation. Business, even small ones, are the main customers. No need to have huge racks onprem with large HVAC systems, large UPSes and at least 10Gbit fiber when you can move it to a location dedicated specifically for that.

I am one of those people who believes in individual freedom and believes most datacenters should be abolished.
Alright, then how will you deal with the few tier 1 ISPs. They surely care about your individual freedoms and will definitely not nullroute your AS/send angry emails to your ISP when they don't like you. That definitely never happened. Oh wait, HE did that to KF.
Of course I'm completely ignoring the fact that you need peering exchanges and those all live in DCs. Anyone that says most DCs should be abolished has no idea how the Internet works. Because it's not just about you and your freedoms, but about everyone else and there are many completely valid reasons why you would want to collocate in a DC.
Also not true. That depends entirely on if your ISP publishes location data or not
Doesn't really matter. You can approximately get the location by timing routes from multiple places and looking at the last hops. That will get you close to the NAT at least. My GeoIP ranges from the same city to a place 80+km away.

This is an ActivityPub issue more than anything else. The "spec" is clear that the side-effects are to be determined by the type of the Object. There is no other indication, you effectively must check the type of the Object referenced. And I think that is correct, the same way Mastodon is correct in its usage of these two Activity types.
If you split the type for other Accept/Reject Activities, like AcceptFeatured or whatever, you are still left with more type determining logic anyway [at least in function non-pattern matching languages :)]. You just moved it somewhere else instead.

Is there actually any Linux distro that isn't governed by retards that want to keep breaking things?
Yeah, we will just drop this very popular package in a month, because we are autistic about dropping Qt5 and are removing packages using it.

@nprofile…nptm Since you are on Codeberg, have you considered asking them to enable the Woodpecker CI for you, so Docker images and release binaries can be built automagically? I think they might allow the usage of the "packages" registry from CI.

@nprofile…xsag @nprofile…549q @nprofile…lqwx @nprofile…nptm As far as I know nobody also subscribed Mitra to multiple large Mastodon relays. The relay issue where Pleroma stores activities that are of no use to it (the ghost repeat), is something I have added to my list of issues (as I always forget about it). I just have to get to it one day.

@nprofile…d73q Most of the development on Hurd comes from payed grants, once the money dries up, the development goes away. Like always.
>install it today.
Downloaded, latest "tested" Debian/Hurd ISO, created a VM, select "text install (mach console)" in GRUB, system panics, VM hard resets. Kill VM and start it up again, select the default graphical install, same panic.
Amazing quality. Can't even install it in text mode.

>Dear GitLab User, Effective April 27, GitLab.com will enforce mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all password-based sign-ins to enhance account security. Your account is included.
>To facilitate an easy transition, we have introduced email-based MFA. If you do not enable another form of MFA before April 27, your account will automatically use email-based MFA. Email-based MFA is easy to use - you’ll enter a code sent to your inbox when you sign in. No app or device required.
I literally have MFA enabled. :lainangry:

My 5 year old mechanical keyboard started to double-type/not type at all to the point I had to stop using it.
No idea how people can tolerate this garbage that is incredibly hard to type on and requires 2x the force to actuate (and only in the precise middle of the keys) than my old keyboard.
(Also FnLock without an indicator should be a criminal offense.)
