Who has a difficult in-law? I'm not going to pretend this is anything else than me wondering if my husband and I are out of line in our expectations.
Four years ago, we welcomed our youngest into our home. He had been taken out of a drug house, and had witnessed significant domestic violence.
At about the same time, my father-in-law moved in his long time girlfriend who had not worked in about five years and got kicked out of the room she rented because her drug-addicted son was sleeping on the porch of the house. Over the years, the woman and son got into physical altercations, and he stole her car, purse, and wallet at various times.
As a foster family, we had to give the agency and county info about our relatives, so we shared that this woman had moved in with my FIL. The social workers directed us to keep our son away from the woman and not to visit my FIL as the son may show up and an altercation may occur.
