yeah, MLS lets you fine-grain that so that breaching one secret only breaches at most a few messages but the downside is ... well... MLS is centralized, actually, when you analyse it, there definitely is privileged parties who dictate the new seed and when it is distributed
i prefer the client side encryption and fuck the scaling problem, if you have a group over 20 members and want sub-second latency then your private group simply isn't private
