It’s a little silly to post a mere 2-month #TimelineThursday, but I was chatting recently about makeup and seeing your true self, and wanted to back up what I was saying with pictures. This 1st pic is from June, the first time I’d had someone do my makeup, and it was literally stunning to look at my reflection — I realized that I might pull off this whole girl thing after all. “Maybe in another year or two”, I said, “I might actually be able to look like this all the time.” My mom kindly replied, “I don’t think it’s going to take a year.”
The 2nd pic is from today, just 2 months later, and indeed, I already easily feel (and look!) feminine, even with my amateur makeup and unstyled hair. In fact, that first picture now seems startlingly masculine to me in comparison.
Maybe it’s the HRT, or $$$ spent at Sephora; maybe it’s just improving self-perception. Either way, I know it feels interminable at first, but I promise it won’t take as long as you thought to see yourself all the time.
