High Cholesterol on Low Carb Diets Not Bad
Long story short: they studied 2 cohorts that were matched in their lipid panels except for LDL being high in one cohort who also happened to be on a low carb diet for 5 years. Prior to that their LDL was around the same as their counterparts, suggesting that once they adopted low carb their LDL skyrocketed. The other markers were good, HDL triglycerides HbA1c etc. The high LDL cohort had people as high as 300-500 LDL. They found absolutely no plaque in the high LDL cohort and this is after 5 years of elevated LDL.
