BMI definitions of obesity were set arbitrarily. Look at photos of innuit hunters taken in early 20th century. These guys were fit, but they clearly had body fat. There is even some data that suggest oveweight people (bmi 26-30) live longer than the 'normal' group.
It takes a special kind of doctor who will look at a healthy person in front of them and criticize their cholesterol. It's like doctors lost the power of observing plain facts.
