I can see where that could be a beneficial feature. Even if you don't want to leave who the post was by, just an indicator of some sort that there was something there that is now gone. The one that messes with me is when I'm looking at a post that's clearly a reply to something, and I can't see the original content either because it's been deleted or because I just don't have permission. Deleted just leaves the whole conversation in place, but weirdly orphaned at the start of the thread.
