I'm happy to explain when people genuinely want to understand problems and solutions, shitcoining and crypto-theater signals the opposite. See my original reply to this thread, and the violent knee-jerk reaction to the idea Bitcoin isn't an application stack.

An actual problems in Lightning are largely caused by the Lightning ecosystem itself, bad incentives created things like mobile nodes. Stupidity, NGO funding, and disinformation operations creates bad advice around it to spread.

These same counter-signals are now pushing Spark and Ark, and the NGO's

Nostr solves 1 specific problem, making the node useful. To be useful it must connect to the web/apps, otherwise you're running a node out of ideological charity.

Running a node on ideological charity makes inherent chain cost feel more expensive than they are, all squeeze and no juice.

Channel balancing is an anti-pattern, a best practice node never needs rebalancing. This is aforementioned bad advice that has spread.

Automation covers most everything else.

Auto-updates are disabled by default since that's a sensitive trust issue, but can be turned on. In light of all the security hits ongoing, we may flip this though. Timed polls check for updates, install, and restart services. Supported on Linux with systemd and MacOS.

There is a faq at docs.shock.network, granted it needs work, big release in the hopper so it will get some attention soon.
