... what?

If I'm buying a thing for $100, the seller sends me an invoice for 100 sats (assume sat/dollar parity for easy math)

I as the buyer am paying only that 100 sat invoice, plus whatever routing fee I allow for... call that 101 sat max.

The channel peer has no say in that value beyond that 0 to 1 sat ceil.

If the seller of beef decides he needs to charge 110 sats, he has to issue a new invoice that I need to agree to pay. Only the seller and buyer are agreeing to terms. The max routing fee is defined by the buyer.
