An interesting side note to the Deutsche Telekom story is that they funded the ART+COM collective that built the original prototype of what would become Google Earth, as depicted in The Billion Dollar Code. This project was ahead of its time, and the team that built it lost an intellectual property suit in a U.S court case. Seems like DT is beginning to realize that it’s still not too late to be early to #bitcoin.
If you have a chance, you really should watch The Billion Dollar Code, a four-part miniseries on Netflix based on the true story of a group of scrappy coders and artists in post-reunification Germany who created the original algorithm they claim was copied to create Google Earth. It’s full of ideas about breaking borders and freeing humanity that will especially resonate with bitcoiners. 🌍
