FWIW the entirety of the "AI" features (at the moment) are a single sub-menu item when you right click on a file.
I can't find any other mention of “AI” anywhere in the app so of all the implementations it's at least not obnoxious (for now).

If you self-host yes. It is readily self hostable on PikaPods, but not the SeaFile Plus stuff (which, I want for Wikis).
I also don't love the AI shit but, it’s infected every decent option that current fits my needs so, here I am.

Successfully set up a docker container behind an nginx reverse proxy... but my container is erased each time I start it (using a compose file, if that makes a difference).
This is after following explicit instructions on how to do this.
This is par for the course with docker in my experience. Follow explicit instructions that "just work" and... it doesn't quite work.
What assumed knowledge am I missing??

it’s hard to believe the “kill switch” will actually do what it says. We’ve been told time and time again “AI” will be “opt-in” just to have the features repeatedly turned back on after users have disabled them.

Any flavor of Ubuntu (I setup Kubuntu because I like KDE Plasma) is pretty much in “it just works” territory, at least in Linux land.
The installer can help you setup dual booting, so you can choose Linux or Windows at boot time, if that would work instead of a VM. Can’t speak to running Windows VMs on Linux personally.

VSCode continues to shove MCP / Chat / "AI” nonsense into it with every update so I'm once again revisiting text editors…
There are 3 key things I couldn't give up or find a comfortable workaround for last time I went on this journey (6 months ago):
* Quickly alphabetizing lines of code (I do this in CSS all the time)
* A good "Find in project” experience - I'm too used to VSCode's search experience
* An integrated terminal I can put at the bottom of the window

My only concern right now is that so many parts of the UI are hard to read. I'm cautiously optimistic that's just beta implementation issues but… if that's not resolved it's going to be an enormous problem for me.

good question... I assume it would always show them since it’s not a touch input device.
I'm pretty sure the Magic Mouse doesn't default to “always show scrollbars" because scrolling happens on a touch surface, even though its more like a traditional mouse.
But a mouse with no reported scroll capabilities… my guess is it would show the scrollbars (if a mouse that old even still works with macOS?)

I left a rather straightforward comment on that exact matter. I get they can’t list everything, but I’d argue CSS is far more common than a lot of choices on the list. An omission so glaring it’s hard not to read it as intentional given the “debate”.

It should be fixed in Firefox 133 - make sure you're up to date. I think it just went stable yesterday.

Editing a Squarespace website today and I have to say... The Squarespace editor is a fucking disaster of a product.
Holy shit.
Want to add a custom css class to a page element? You can’t.
Want to write custom CSS? Surprise, it’s actually LESS so things like calc() require special syntax.
Want to download an asset from the asset manager? You can’t. Want to replace an asset with an updated version? You can’t.
And don't even get me started on the fucking markup.
