The system will collapse. Most people refuse to believe this possibility. Especially the older generations that have heard these warnings time and time again over many decades or the better part of a century.
Can't blame them too much - but one has to remember that a broken clock is right twice in a day. It’s coming, although nobody can predict when.
Society changes when money dies. Take for example the Roman Empire which went fiat by way of diluting the denarius of its silver content
> From a purity of greater than 90% silver in the 1st century AD, the denarius fell to under 60% purity by AD 200, and plummeted to 5% purity by AD 300 (Wikipedia)
People became more degenerate whether by social engineering or just declining societal morals and ethics.
People in occupations that were deemed beneath them also became celebrities in a way. Gladiators, actors, entertainers, chefs and so on went from being looked down on to becoming celebrities. Ring a bell today?
Time will ultimately show us. Better be stacking sats in the meantime.

Hmmm. I think twitter touches more the tech people. But other sm platforms, that collects less tech related, but more people with general interest. Maybe nostrs value proposition as not that apparent.
Maybe these people's usecases are not touched by nostr, or does not worth the extra effort, because they see less upside compared to the effort they need.
Maybe this is okay, maybe not. I am just wondering about value proposition, people's needs, and these sort of topics.
🤖AI turned out to be much more environmentally friendly than leather writers and artists.
🌎Recent studies have discovered interesting facts regarding the environmental effectiveness of neurons in comparison with human activity.
🌿For example: when composing text, ChatGPT leaves a carbon footprint that is 1,100 times smaller than that of the average US resident. And when generating images, AI creates between 310 and 2,900 times less CO2 emissions per image than a human creating the same image.
♻️Such a discovery poses interesting questions for us. We once wrote that neural networks are blamed for environmental damage and increased water consumption, but as it turns out, people cost the environment even more than neurons. . .

Very accurate! Research is tainted. I don't debate that statins lower LDL, I think they do. This reduction does not equate to reduced morbidity or mortality though. Even through that lens, if you look at absolute risk reduction (instead of relative risk reduction) in these statin trials, it is dismal-as a population, mind you, possibly gain 30 days of life in the most generous interpretation of the data. My wife saw a diagnosis on a patient chart the other day that had a diagnosis of "intolerance to statin". She is a physical therapist who has joined me in the quest for truth. She joked, "it is like you are SUPPOSED to take these medications, your body does not have enough statins." I think this speaks to how far this medical misinformation has gone. I am not afraid to tell my patients that I feel that triglycerides and VLDL cholesterol are more important and a great marker for insulin triggering and glucose load. I explain the VLDL, triglyceride, sugar connection. I also warn them that other doctors will likely immediately recommend you take a statin if they see you. I tell the patients why, so they are prepared, because it is confusing. For me, bitcoin lead me to Twitter. Twitter lead me to stumble across the low-carb, high-fat community and the rest is history.

STATEMENT REGARDING MY TWITTER/X ACCOUNT
Today, my Twitter/X account was permanently banned and my appeal to have it overturned was denied.
There was no warning issued, no 2 week suspension, no option to delete the offending tweet. Just straight permanent deplatform.
My offending tweet?
"Bring back the guillotine."
I quote tweeted this sentence to the video presented here on 3rd September.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1698249077061009496
Someone reported the tweet and my account was irretrievably shut down on the basis of violating rules against violent speech.
The vaccines (and vaccine mandates) caused so much harm to people all over the world. Many lost their livelihoods, incomes, businesses, marriages, families, confidence and will to live. Some lost their good health and worse, some lost their lives. The coercion to get vaccinated was immense, and to be told "it was a choice" is a kick to the teeth. Today, many regret having taken the vaccine.
My crime? I dared open up the conversation on how best to hold decision makers accountable for their decisions.
Meanwhile, other Twitter handles are able to post these and keep their accounts. The inconsistencies and arbitrary nature of these suspensions is ashtonishing.

Having said that, I fully accept the consequences of my actions.
On a brighter, more productive note, I'm proud to have educated thousands on my YouTube channel (Ministry of Nodes) on how to hold their own keys and run their own Bitcoin node such that these arbitrary decisions can't be made with people's money. I'm convinced it will get worse, and that we need Bitcoin more than ever.
As part of my educational content, I also sell plug & play Bitcoin Nodeboxes to those who want to quickly get up and running without the steep learning curve that goes behind it. Have a watch of how easy it can be.

Thanks for reading, nostriches.
As a farmer, I work 60 hour weeks about 8 months out of the year. These are mostly spent outside in direct sunlight, typically beginning before sun up, and working until it's nearly dark again.
The other 4 months, I work normal 40 hours, usually playing mechanic on our tractors, fixing fences, driving truck etc.
This life would not be possible at all if it weren't for a wife at home, making sure myself and my children are supported with everything we need. She is the backbone of our operation, and I tell her that often. Without her, our lifestyle would not be possible

Iran ‘serious’ about restoring nuclear deal
From RT
Tehran is in contact with the US, and Oman’s plan to salvage the 2015 agreement is still on the table, the foreign ministry says Iran is ready to seriously consider returning to full compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal if the other parties, including the US, will reciprocate, the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Ministry has said. Think of a 'country' like a pretend rulebook invented by grown-ups to tell everyone, including kids, how they should behave in a group. It's like a game where they make the rules, and they want everyone to play by those rules, **even if they might not always be in your best interest**. Latvia, Russia, Germany, USA… 🤢🤮
Global institutional adoption of Bitcoin continues: Japanese financial giant Nomura has unveiled a Bitcoin Adoption Fund for institutional investors. Nomura, Japan's largest investment bank with over $500 billion in assets, has crafted this fund for long-term Bitcoin exposure. This development occurs amid intense regulatory deliberations on Bitcoin-based products, with the upcoming decision on US Bitcoin ETFs scheduled for October 15. Over the past two years, the US, Canada, and Europe have also greenlit several Bitcoin-focused funds. 🌐🚀 #Bitcoin #Nomura #InstitutionalAdoption
Summarizing https://www.quantamagazine.org/risky-giant-steps-can-solve-optimization-problems-faster-20230811/
Here's my try:
The article discusses a new approach to solving optimization problems faster using risky giant steps instead of conventional wisdom. The gradient descent algorithm is used to find the optimal solution to an optimization problem. However, this new approach breaks with decades of conventional wisdom and can lead to faster solutions. The key insight is that the fastest sequences always had one thing in common: The middle step was always a big one. Its size depended on the number of steps in the repeating sequence. For example, for a three-step sequence, the big step had length 4.9. This cyclical approach represents a different way of thinking of gradient descent, said Aymeric Dieuleveut, an optimization researcher at École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France.
However, while these insights may change how researchers think about gradient descent, they likely won’t change how the technique is currently used. Grimmer’s paper focused only on smooth functions, which have no sharp kinks, and convex functions, which are shaped like a bowl and only have one optimal value at the bottom. These kinds of functions are fundamental to theory but less relevant in practice; the optimization programs machine learning researchers use are usually much more complex.

Yes! I make yaupon tea sometimes, its very good. You can do light, medium, dark roast, like coffee. Just vary the time you roast the leaves. I sold some at a gathering, and it was well liked. It also has other healthy ingredients, like one that is also found in chocolate.
