The frogs are speckled clay while the leaves are white clay. Even with the same translucent green glaze on both, there should be some interesting contrast.

Here’s the centering tips I remember from last week:
If you have trouble with clay drying out too much as you’re wedging, wet the surface slightly with a sponge and then wait for it to dry, then wedge.
Make a teardrop shape from your lump of clay and jam the point on the center of the wheel. It doesn’t have to be thrown. Whack it into the center and whack it down firmly in place.
Press down the edge of the lump all around, making a “ruffly skirt” sealed to the wheel. Wet a finger and press between the lump and the edge of the skirt, rotating the wheel to seal.
After this point, never touch clay unless wheel is in motion.
Wheel should turn in the direction dominant hand points.
No need to wedge elbows any particular place, but keep hands as still as possible on clay as wheel rotates to make it even more centered. Patience is key. “Let the wheel do the work.”
Coning is important, it forces air bubbles into the center so they go away as you open up.
Use a finger to make a groove at the bottom of the lump. Pinkies go here; alternate pulling the clay upward and pressing it together until you make a tall cone.
Point of cone goes in palm of dominant hand, whose fingers go down the side of the cone. Supporting hand palm touches clay and fingers support dominant hand fingers.
Dominant hand pulls cone down gently and wheel pulls the clay in to center. “Let the wheel do the work.” There’s a little subtlety of positioning to this I find it hard to describe verbally.
Now you can make things!

The secret to making curry is to make a curry base by food processing or blending fresh ginger, onion, and garlic.
I also add fresh peppers here. Red ghost peppers are the best but hard for me to find organic, while fresh jalapeños (and red bells for color) are easy.
You can also add some lemon or lime juice if you want; I do sometimes.
Cook your chicken in butter or ghee with your favorite curry masala. I was told to use a tandoori masala.
After you flip the chicken, pour in the curry base and cook it a bit. Add your veggies and put the lid on to steam; you can pre steam them in the microwave to speed up the process. When they look done, add cream and simmer it a bit more.
Finish it off with a great deal of butter and a handful of dried methi leaves / fenugreek leaves. Melt the butter and stir it all in.
Serve with hot basmati rice cooked with fried cumin seeds 🧡
I guess it’s thickened mainly by reduction and partly by combining acidic ingredients with cream.

So I have been having an absolutely fantastic, beautiful week, which has given me the clarity to think about some important things over the past few days.

It doesn’t matter if we are political allies, if you are a homesteading expert, if you’re a great artist or musician or cook, if you have nice and wise things to say about family or homeschooling, or even if you claim to be my sibling in Christ and “seek His kingdom first.”
If you love cruelty; if you act like a predator against human beings, scenting out the weak and sick to destroy them further; if you tear down others to be “in” or make yourself feel important; if you cheer such bullshit on and support insulting the people pointing out the problem; and especially if you twist religion to justify your sin:
We actually have nothing in common, and I want nothing at all to do with you, ever.
Particularly if you believe yourself to be a Christian, you seriously need to reconsider your stance and turn to earnest prayer and study of Scripture. There is no justification for this attitude in Christ.

I’ve been doing pottery for years, but as a sculptor and handbuilder. Throwing on the wheel is a lot tougher than it looks, and I’ve never been good at it.
A class spot finally opened up at my studio and yesterday was my first class with my awesome new teacher. She has started me with the very basics and has been sharing cheat code after cheat code. As a result, yesterday I threw FOUR bowls! This is an unprecedented success 😁

Just started watching Godzilla Minus One today after watching Dancing for the Devil yesterday, and it's making me think again about bravery and judgment.
It's so hard to know how you would react in a critical scenario. Maybe all your life, you're sure that you'd be the one to speak up or act when it counted, but there in the moment of danger and uncertainty, who can say?
I think there can even be a sort of "frog in the pot" situation sometimes, where your response to something would be quite different depending on whether it's introduced to you gradually or suddenly.
I think those two elements are key -- danger, with its raw fight-flight-or-freeze hormonal cocktail, and uncertainty, with its more cerebral "what SHOULD I do" "I don't KNOW what to do" focus.
I think you can train yourself to have a better likelihood of being brave by actually considering what you would do in various situations, including thinking about what red flags to look out for would be. Ask yourself what you will not let stand, what are your lines in the sand for action, and figure out how to tell when that is happening. Then, at least, the uncertainty part is overcome.
But that still leaves the danger part. Few of us truly know what it's actually like to be in a moment like that, whatever it is. I'm in favor of showing kindness and patience to people who weren't brave, because there but for the inspiration of God go all of us. I think being humble enough to realize that you can't be sure if you're capable of bravery until you've really been tested is important.
It might be possible to practice that, too, to an extent. When you feel a little panicky about doing or saying something, let it be your cue to flee the comfort zone.
