Wanted to try out a vulnerability scanner SaaS product.
Went to create a free trial account.
Couldn't create an account because it said my 30 character password didn't include the required upper/lower/numeric/special characters, even though it certainly did.
Tried half a dozen variations before giving up. If you can't do a password requirement check, why should I believe you can do more complex security scans?

Still liking my Framework laptop, especially because it has hardware switches for the microphone and camera.
However, I think the switch UX is backwards. When you have the inputs disabled, the switch is red. When you have them enabled, it's black.

So the ByBit attack was able to happen because:
Gnosis Safe front end is a web app whose JavaScript gets served from an Amazon S3 bucket.
A Gnosis Safe developer had production AWS keys saved on their machine.
The Dev's machine was compromised and the AWS key used to deploy a malicious front end that only targeted ByBit's wallet.
JavaScript web apps have no cryptographic integrity checks to ensure the code being delivered was actually written by the expected author.
Signing complex EVM transactions can't be done securely on airgapped hardware because the hardware simply doesn't have all of the contextual information needed to know the outcome of executing the transaction.

A really interesting advancement in AI tool usage is with new interaction patterns.
Humans are training LLMs, but LLMs can then be used to train humans. I've even heard stories of humans being trained by LLMs on how to more effectively prompt LLMs.
And of course the final frontier is when LLMs prompt other LLMs to maximally leverage the strengths of different models.

Social engineering prevention PSA:
1. Never trust ANY unsolicited incoming communications be it via email, phone, chat, social media, etc.
2. Any message you receive that conveys FEAR and a sense of URGENCY should be regarded as highly suspicious.
3. No crypto exchange, hardware, or software provider is going to call you out of the blue and ask you to make changes to your security setup.
4. Never install software, especially remote desktop software like AnyDesk or TeamViewer, at the instruction of an unsolicited message.
5. Slow down, take a breath, and reach out to someone you trust to provide a second opinion if you find yourself in a weird situation.

Something to be aware of if you're looking to buy privacy / security specific hardened computing devices:
Avoid those that are running niche flavors of Linux, especially if it's a Linux flavor created by the company. Maintaining a full fledged OS to ensure it remains up to date with security patches and simply with all the latest versions of libraries is no small task.
I've been burned by this several times where a company stopped maintaining their OS and is started breaking more and more software that had newer dependencies.

If you live in an area prone to natural disasters, you have a few options:
1. Build a robust house that is engineered to withstand the expected disasters. This has a high up front cost.
