In their heyday, webrings provided discoverability for groups of topical websites but also facilitated social aspects of the web before social media provided easy access to social graphs.
Today, there is increasing disillusionment with the proliferation of low effort posting that social media encourages. In dark corners of the internet, unenlightened by social media, there is an interest in creating decentralized webrings, and nostr seems to be to be a good way to get that started.

I'm using the graph theory concept of cliques to try to build webrings in nostr:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clique_(graph_theory)
It's easy to identify cliques in the nostr social graph and to do that within the subset of users who have a website in their profile. Then if all of the websites in a clique start to link to each other, a decentralized webring can emerge.

Here's a preview of what a nostr webring can look like. One thing that differentiates between a webring and simply a list of recommended links is the condition that all the websites in the webring link to each other. In nostr we can use the social graph to bootstrap this process, where inclusion in a graph theory clique based on follows is the criteria for inclusion in the webring.
The profiles shown here do not currently form a clique, this is just a idea of what it can look like.

I'd like to revive the old school concept of webrings by using nostr, WoT, and the Bron-Kerbosch clique finding algorithm. Traditional webrings fit the graph theory definition of a clique, though they maintain it with a centralized coordinator. With nostr, we can create a decentralized webring.
