My requirements are pretty simple:
1. It must be hosted on a server. (I know the recent hullabaloo with offline-first movement but I personally dont see any use of it.)
2. It must be scriptable. I want to do more with the wiki/notebooks than just add text.
3. It must have a snazzy first editor.
So, based on those, shortlisted candidates are DokuWiki and TiddlyWiki. Both have terrible, terrible looks it must be said. But DokuWiki's editor is very difficult to mod.
About TW, every time I revisit this project after a few years, I am left amazed by the incredible work people are putting into this. This is perhaps the best piece of software ever built. Can you imagine you can code inside a running app and change its behaviour? That's mind-blowing stuff.
TW FTW, until I find problems with no resolution.

Reading Lord of The Rings by Tolkien. I have previously half-finished The Hobbit but it was written for children, ig. But Fellowship of the Ring is absolutely captivating. Just four chapters in and I am so hooked. Forgot the last time I was this attracted to a book. Beautiful depiction of surroundings and so lucid in writing. Highly recommended for everyone.
Will watch the movies once reading is finished.

I have left all mainstream social media about two years ago. Mostly due to toxic hate. Have not logged in to Facebook for more than three years now. Somehow I have grown a chronic apathy towards all those who are addicted to FB and instagram (I left twitter ages ago - too much toxicity there). Browsing mindlessly all the day, I find them everywhere. During my commute, I sometimes feel sorry for them. I just dont get what people achieve from being fed whatever they are thrown at. Most of these people do not contribute to adding valuable content. They are the ones FB and "influencers" make fool of.
Here in #nostr, there is no algo. It is perhaps the most important reason I spend time here. I see what I want to see. Yes, variety is lacking since most people are busy elsewhere. Better nothing than something worthless.
However, I do believe nostr will meet similar fate once the trolls join. It is inevitable. Still I can see some level of control here. I just wish more and more clients keep adding features to mute trolls and some kind of #ai to proactively identify malicious users. Nostr is in a very nascant stage and most people are "crypto bros". But every now and then, I come across users with similar interests as mine. Makes me feel a little good inside. Feels like those days of early internet when people wanted to meet others just to share their thoughts without having any hidden motive.

I have taken up several vocations in the past — in fact, my main job is all thanks to the winderful internet community — but I have never seen so much content dedicated to a single subject. Just finished reading "Future proofing you" by Jay Samit. This book is aimed at budding entrepreneurs and those looking to kickstart their startups. The book takes you on journey of a young man who made $1M in one year. Along the way, the author lays out twelve different "truths" about being successful as an entrepreneur. From building a strong character to improving negotiation skills, the author has carefully chosen the main problems people face on their way to success. The book has tons of success stories from the world of startups. The book ends with an appeal to build sustainable businesses that care for the planet.
Personally, I hate people who introduce a famous person as their friend. "The other evening I had dinner with my friend Christopher Nolan." The author loves to do it this way. Absolutely hated this. But that's a personal preference.
I would rate this book 4/5 and recommend people to read it thoroughly. Quite a few gems in there.

Was reading Jay Samit's "Future Proofing You" and found a really nice technique to grow connection and find mentors on LinkedIn. So, I logged into my rusty LinkedIn profile. Apart from seeing my old college friends all well-placed now, I realised I have a tendency to disagree with most of the stuff shared on popular social networks. All the posts seem so shallow and half-baked and you can tell just by reading a couple of sentences that most of them are aimed at getting more likes and shit. I don't get the point honestly. If you have a good product/skill, you'd get noticed. Instead of posting non-sense on social media, these people should be writing good code and release them on Github. Honestly, Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn and others have turned internet into a toxic cesspool of half-assed content.

Of all the devices I own, iPad is perhaps the best choice I made. Tech specs aside, this device has given me the opportunity to read so many books I will probably lose count. Over the years, it is showing its age but I think I extend its life for one more year. But again, the new age iPad's are absolutely breathtaking. It's a sad truth Apple devices are so expensive that I have to plan at least a year ahead of purchasing.

The buggest two problems for science are perhaps time and space. Imagine, if we have tech to travel lightyears in seconds. The vastness of universe would no longer be a problem. And if we could travel such distance in a jiffy, time will no longer make sense, as per General Relativity.
The more I read about exciting discoveries about exoplanets, the more I wish to see such tech. I guess one lifetime is not enough to fully appreciate the extent of scientific discovery.
