First attempt at making a #keto #bread!
Flax, almond flour, eggs, bit of greek yogurt, olive oil.

Trying to refine my approach to keto: reduce my saturated fat intake and lower my cholesterol levels (yes, I read Lopp's article and yes I got the advanced lipid panel test). Incorporating flax seeds seems like an easy win.

Tastes mostly neutral, but finishes as salty olive oil. Not bad, but not great.
I've been putting slices in the toaster to crisp up the mushier inside. That def improves the experience.
Spreading some butter on was a bad call; accentuated the saltiness in a bad way.
Tried it with some pesto; if you have a pesto you really like, it could work great. My pesto was so-so, so meh.
Biggest success: dip it into a tikka masala sauce!

Akshually:
1.) SeedSigner DID submit an OpenSats application for the project as a whole. The application languished for months (perhaps 6mo to a year?) and was ultimately declined with the explanation that it was easier/preferable to support individual devs than whole projects.
2.) Based on that feedback, I submitted an OpenSats application to fund just me specifically. That was also declined. BUT the rationale was because @npub17xv…c9as had just announced a 6mo grant for me. I was encouraged to reapply to OpenSats before that HRF funding expired.
The delays around 1.) were totally understandable. OpenSats is a VOLUNTEER effort and had even fewer human resources at that time. But also: they don't owe us a f'n thing!! They're under no obligation to say "Yes" nor should we ever have the arrogance to think we deserve to demand a "Yes"!
BUT the delays to get to ANY answer were VERY frustrating and likely added to some of the bad blood in the water amongst those watching the project closely. Eventually each "later, soon..." response was received with increasing cynicism and creeping conspiracy theories.
The "No" was totally reasonable. Getting to "No" faster would have been better.
The "No" on 2.) was also totally reasonable. No complaints from me whatsoever. I also strongly believe that THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN A "YES" had the HRF funding not come through.
I consider O'Dell a friend and an ally. When I saw him in Nashville I gave him a hug and said, "I appreciate you."
I'm not about drama.
Not here to start any shouting matches.
Just trying to paint a clear picture about what was good and what was bad throughout our interactions with OpenSats thus far.
And full disclosure: I'm prepping a new grant application for myself for OpenSats. So, sure, I have personal reasons for not wanting to burn this bridge.
But the reality is that there was just nothing outrageous or awful or controversial about our interactions. Circumstance and timing weren't right for attempts 1.) and 2.). Crossing my fingers for upcoming 3.).
Conspiracy theories are dumb.

If I try to push even more pixels -- 320x480 (ili9486) -- we hit some hard performance limits of the available python drivers out there.
For now the above 320x240 experiments look awesome enough, so I'm not placing a high priority on higher resolution screens.

Oh for sure the problem CAN be worked from either or, ideally, both sides (reduced calorie intake, increased calorie burn).
I'm just saying that the effort required and mental resistance is WAY skewed against the calorie burn side. To the point where, Richard Simmons' best efforts be damned, I think it's a losing case to try to make to the average American.
But too few people understand how EASY the reduced calorie intake side can be (it has its own mental resistance -- "not my beloved carbs!" -- and misconceptions -- "I can't live on salads").
I'm just viewing it as a pragmatist. If the goal is fat burn, I just focus on what they're eating.

I know steady cardio isn't the same as HIT / HIIT (in terms of burn while active and residual effects), but still. The effort-to-calorie-burn ratio is rough.
The average American is just not willing to offset a single can of Coke by running 1.4 miles every day, let alone do enough additional work to get into a calorie deficit for the day.
Yes, they'd be better off doing sprints / HIIT (I used to do cycles of 20s sprints, 60s rest with my gymnasts in the summer. Holy shit was that hard to get past even 5 rounds). But the average American probably can't even move fast enough to get into a high intensity zone nor could they sustain it for 20s. And they'll give themselves a heart attack.

I was super-serious about my first round of keto and absolutely logged everything.
Once the ball really got rolling, I was losing about 0.5 lb per week with ZERO increase in activity level. Keto made my body willing to burn onboard fat stores so my appetite decreased and I never had to fight through hunger, even though I was def at a significant calorie deficit. It was all shockingly easy.
I have close friends / family that still think the only way to lose weight is to torture yourself by eating salads all the time, feeling hungry and miserable, and working your ass off in the gym 5-7 days a week. It's such a horrible prospect that they just don't even try to lose weight. Road seems too hard.
Keto has worked wonders for me because the ONLY effort involves being disciplined about food (which is easy for me. I'm boring; I love salmon, eggs, cheese, broccoli, avocado. Happy to eat them every day).
I wish those other people in my life would just give it a f'n try. But they just can't shake the incorrect equation:
Losing weight == really hard, miserable work
The other thing is that I view keto as a tool, but not necessarily a lifelong permanent way of eating. If you have excess fat you want to burn, do a stint of disciplined keto until you get to your target body fat percentage. Then ease up but keep monitoring. If bfp drifts back above some uncomfortable threshold, switch back to keto for a bit.

Tiny bit of @npub17ty…3mgl progress this morning.
Continuing to work on experimental support for larger 320x240 screens.
In MOST cases, our Screen classes do an excellent job of dynamically resizing themselves to the wider aspect ratio. A LOT of care and foresight went into the UI code to make this happen. It's awesome to see it working!
But some screens had some lame hard-coded pixel values (my fault).

I don't think anything stops a direct lightning hit. Certainly not $50 consumer surge protectors plugged into the wall.
I have a 100,000 amp whole-home surge protector (Siemens FS100) installed at the breaker box, but that won't stop a lightning strike either.
But it will EASILY handle typical non-lightning surges. Whether or not the consumer plug-in surge protectors are good enough depends on how spikey your supply might be.

I didn't read up on my local code, but the general reddit wisdom was that:
* Corp building installs have diff requirements than homes.
* And then even within homes, it's a question of how long the run is. Somewhere around 50-100' is usually short enough that there are no regs. Plus minimal concern about jacket off gassing in the vents for such short runs.

Ooh, actually the bulk cable I bought does offer plenty of other length options. Pricing isn't terrible. ~$0.26/ft for 100'. I got 300' at $0.21.
And from what I could tell, Riser rated is fine for short-run home installs (~50ft). No need to spend more for Plenum, ya?
I might need to run some lines through a short vent duct section, but even for that I'm skeptical that plenum matters. Although... only a $10 diff for the length I'd need in the ducting... 🤔🤷‍♂️

Instead I somehow managed to successfully(?) refactor and improve the most complicated area of the @npub17ty…3mgl code.
This isn't really meant to be a flex, more of a: "Oh, shit. I got something amazing done during peak outside world distraction!"
Of course I'll return to moments of obsessive scrolling and the associated rage, terror, depression. But diving DEEP into something really f'n complicated was an unexpectedly effective escape.

I'm only about a week or two in, but REALLY amazed by Home Assistant so far and especially the ESPHome possibilities.
My initial focus is home security. Adding door sensors and building these wireless speakers to announce "Front door opened", etc. Just want to get more situational awareness and buy me more time if anyone were to break in.
Will def be fun to integrate my home mining when I resume in the winter.

Bonus: finally installed the aftermarket power tap so I can use the Volt as a gas-powered emergency generator!
Leave the car on, plug emergency appliances into the AC inverter, they drain the main batteries via the 12V connection point, then the car occasionally switches on the gas engine to push more energy into the main batteries.
You can power a fridge with it for DAYS on one 9gal tank of gas! The car will only switch on the gas engine for about 6min every hour!.

First hurdle: the 12V battery is in the back (Chevy Volt; main power pack on the chassis plus normal 12V battery just to start the electronics) but the hatch's manual release is a hidden 5/16" square cutout that you have to turn.
Had to cut a custom tool just to lift the hatch!

Glad I googled all this stuff. I was watching how-to videos and was like, wtf, these dudes are just touching the poles w/bare hands.
My CS degree didn't require any EE classes so, yeah, got one semester of E&M in AP Physics and nothing since. Not kidding when I said I don't understand electricity!

Pfft, f no! I'm CHEAP, friend!!!! 🤣
But sorta close... used Chevy Volt I got for $14k about 6yrs ago. The 12V battery does almost nothing in the car (just initializes the onboard electronics, then the mega battery pack takes over), but annoyingly, the car is completely inert when the 12V is dead.

"They" are irrelevant for SeedSigner since you can build it yourself and run the FOSS code completely permissionlessly. Those of us involved in the project have NO IDEA who has built a SeedSigner.
I disagree with your definition of "product". I think of a product as something that a company sells. We're a completely open source PROJECT. If you build a SeedSigner and run our code, none of the volunteers who work on the project profit from it.
SeedSigner + Silent Payments is a FOSS project adding (currently experimental) support for an open source protocol / technique.
No one asked me to start building support for Silent Payments in SeedSigner. No one paid me to do it.
I've spent quite a bit of time with bip47 in the past. Interest in bip352 is a natural progression.
Some conspiracy theories are interesting or incisive. This one isn't.

Slight color tone differences. Display P3 looks more accurate. But still no HDR kicking in on the Macbook's retina display for either color profile.
But Google Photos on Mac Chrome does leverage the display's HDR abilities. So it's not a browser limitation. Must be some html/css metadata thing when presenting the image?
