The most interesting part of the article was how partisanship shapes views about the causes of inflation. Republicans were more likely to blame Joe Biden and the government while Democrats were more likely to blame corporate greed. Inflation was ranked as a top issue for both, with 70% agreeing that it was a sign of a bad economy. Very curious to see how this translates in the November election.

Awesome video! Looks like you had a blast. I went for my 18th birthday. It was exhilarating—biggest adrenaline rush ever. The night before, I had Chinese food with my parents who both strongly urged me to reconsider the decision. Any creator of anything knows this feeling:
You experience someone else’s innovative work. It’s beautiful, brilliant, breath-taking. You’re stunned. Their ideas are unexpected and surprising, but perfect.
You think, “I never would have thought of that. How do they even come up with that? It’s genius!”
Afterwards, you think, “My ideas are so obvious. I’ll never be as inventive as that.”
I get this feeling often. Amazing books, music, movies, or even amazing conversations. I’m in awe at how the creator thinks like that. I’m humbled.
But I continue to do my work. I tell my little tales. I share my point of view. Nothing spectacular. Just my ordinary thoughts.
One day someone emailed me and said, “I never would have thought of that. How did you even come up with that? It’s genius!”
Of course I disagreed and explained why it was nothing special.
But afterwards, I realized something surprisingly profound:
Everybody’s ideas seem obvious to them.
I’ll bet even John Coltrane or Richard Feynman felt that everything they were playing or saying was pretty obvious.
So maybe what’s obvious to me is amazing to someone else?
Hit songwriters often admit that their most successful hit song was one they thought was just stupid, even not worth recording.
We’re clearly bad judges of our own creations. We should just put them out there and let the world decide.

I had a chance to listen to the interview on my commute yesterday, and I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed it. Between Walker’s interview style, Ben’s optimistic mindset, and the humor throughout, it was great listening.
I thought you guys were being sarcastic here of Nostr when mentioning *NSYNC. But it was really a highlight of the episode to hear about Ben rollerblading to boy bands in the 90s and leaving negative reviews for rival a cappella groups.
This was my first time listening to The #Bitcoin Podcast, and I look forward to hearing more. Great job.

Tonight's Republican debate will not significantly change the dynamic in the race. The candidates uniformly came across as small and hawkish. As cliche as it sounds, Trump did likely benefit from sitting this one out.
The only thing I enjoyed about tonight's debate was that some of the fault lines within the Republican Party were on display, especially vis-à-vis Ukraine. In the long run, it's probably a strategic mistake for the Democratic Party to skip these debates.

From personal experience, I can say that the first 3 weeks are the most difficult. I was strictly carnivore for nearly 2 years, but following a more flexible meat-based ketogenic diet now. For me, it has provided great mental health benefits, with a tremendous reduction in stress and anxiety.

I'm a big fan of your work, Guy. Keep doing what you're doing. Narrating, editing, and publishing the audiobook gave me a deeper appreciation for how much work goes into your process.
You'll either love this (based on your interest in AI) or hate this (due to your huge investment of time in narrating), but my next project is to use AI platforms like ElevenLabs to produce similar audiobooks for other disciplines. It looks like I've been able to secure funding, so will be working on that project next as a proof-of-concept.

I think that there might be something to what he is saying. I worry about this in the educational context where students are increasingly relying on AI to either actually write their assignments or do much of the heavy lifting with research, outlining, and argumentation. When we offload these tasks to AI, we are gradually undermining our own capacity for thinking. The risks become even more evident when you consider that AIs will have their own forms of political bias, including "off limits" topics. No doubt, AI will be hugely beneficial when it comes to increased productivity, but we need to be careful not to diminish our own thinking skills in the process.

I came across this excerpt from Alexis de Tocqueville's "Democracy in America" today that I thought you would find interesting. He discusses the dangers of the tyranny of the majority in American democracy.
