You said the SeedSigner project is “incredibly important” but continue in the same breath to deny they are competitors and described SeedSigner as only reasonable to be used as a fallback if we lived in a world where devices like Cold Card don’t exist. Far from an endorsement.
You have historically supported the SeedSigner project and I appreciate the support. There’s 100+ ways the SeedSigner project could be better. Your most notable grievance of SeedSigner seems to be solely focused on physical security attributes when comparing the two air gapped Bitcoin signing devices. Specifically you don’t like that SeedSigner doesn’t have a secure element.
Secure elements are great tech, but you never cover the actual trade offs on RHR. You gloss over how Cold Card is verifying firmware at boot on behalf of the user. You don’t discuss the trade offs at all. The verification of firmware at boot on a Cold Card requires trust in Coinkite. The user isn’t verifying, Coinkite is. You also make it sound like it’s an impossible task to verify firmware for SeedSigner.
IMO you’re getting sucked into stupid polarizing debates around Cold Card vs SeedSigner. I think Cold Card and SeedSigner are both great in their own ways. They make different trade offs and actually complement each other really well in a multisig setup with Sparrow Wallet. I personally have no issue with you recommending a Cold Card over a SeedSigner if you prefer the trade offs. Totally reasonable if you asked me. It’s way more important people self custody Bitcoin using cold storage.

Jellyfin for the most part. Plex always felt like it was trying to upsell me from the free version. I’ve run to 1 noticeable bug with Jellyfin that I just work around. With Jellyfin it’s great that I can create an account for someone else in my family without them doing a signup process.

I switched to Jellyfin from Plex about 6 months ago. Both have worked very well for me. Nice part about using Jellyfin over Plex is not having to sign up for a Plex account.

Interesting incentives to think through.
I would have a hard time knowing if my nsec leaked unless someone straight up started posting/signing notes that gained attention from others.
I’d also worry about the common practice of locking up Bitcoin with a nsec because it could provide bad incentives for Nostr client developers.

For a few years of my life I functional only used RSS and Podcasts for news/information. It was terrific.
RSS was dying before google reader shutdown, but that was the nail in the coffin. I tried using RSS again a couple years ago, but very few sites/people I follow offer it.

If zaps move to ecash, I’ll run my own mint. One interesting aspect to this change is I’ll no longer have to pay fees to zap. Instead, those I zap will have to pay me fees to redeem their IOUs.

You probably already know this, but LN implementations need improvements to provide real privacy gains for receiving sats. For example I can look at these 3 addresses and in seconds have a good guess about what node stack/implementations you’re using for each and even see UTXO history in same cases.
1) Phoenix Wallet bolt12
2) bolt12 CLN on startOS w/ an announced channel w/ visible on chain UTXO history.
3) BTCPay LNURL with LND? … maybe the same startOS server. Again with an announced channel w/ visible on chain history.

It’s actually not as bad as I thought it would be. I’m running bitcoind, cln (with no channels, only for gossip), mempool, fulcrum, and elementsd on a single computer that costs easily costs less than $300 used with ~$150 2TB NVMe upgrade.
No idea how long I will run it. My main motivation is to experiment with peerswap via liquid.

The IBD is RAM hungry, so best to have spare free space and swap setup.

I’m a big fan of federations with explicit expiration dates. I really hope this becomes normalized behavior by mints and users of mints.
It does bring up all sorts of interesting convention points around how to ethically and/or legally turn off a mint. Should deposits to the mint be turned off days/months/years before its shutdown? How many days/months/years should users of a mint be given notice before shutting down? Etc, etc
