First time seeing parts of the Ubuntu Summit stream and wow, I don’t really hate my voice in it. :neocat_floof_owo_exclamation:
Could it be better? Do I feel like I actually have a more higher pitched tone most of the time? Sure.
But given I was fighting a sore throat and was honestly a bit nervous, that was quite… fine?

I think people miss that this isn’t a call to abandon rust-on-linux (though I have no trouble believing that is what some people take away from the situation).
Someone contributing to a greenfield project isn’t necessarily willing to contribute to linux and such a project could still provide valuable insight for rust-on-linux.

This feels to me like it is more geared towards an api for applications, which is a related but different thing.
(And an important one, as ultimately the app needs to be in control here - as shown by @npub1lvc…cedh ptyxis example - and aware of any external recoloring, which it isn’t with user-colors.css, but I am getting ahead of myself.)

Fair. It’s obviously impossible for the system to account for apps dynamically changing their colors. It is similarly broken for automatic dark/light mode switching, because libadwaita never reloads the overridden colors.
Given accent colors were already a really hard sell to some people, I expect this to go nowhere, but I would really like to see an open-minded discussion about further aspects of recoloring (not theming) in good faith.
I don’t think re-coloring has nearly the same class of problems outlined by https://stopthemingmy.app and similar blog posts. I have a couple of very simple ideas on how to improve the situation (for hopefully everyone), I would love to pitch and talk about (without any expectations whatsoever).
If you (or anybody from the GNOME community for that matter) would be open to that, I would appreciate it.

I love how it just breaks after ~150px of border width, never tried that or seen that. :neocat_googly_blep:
Fits perfectly with the “if users want to break it, they should be able to” mantra.
