No, we just sort of winged it and got lucky winging it, we started at the same time as others who weren't as lucky and either sunk, or half scared themselves to death. I don't think everyone should be living on the water, but it was our last resort, if we weren't living so far away from friends and family who could help us, our situation might have played out differently too, and a life on the water would have been way down the list of what is sensible.

So, @npub1qrh…zx78, who created Modal, demonstrated to me an interesting connection between Fractran and rewriting programming languages that I couldn't see at first. It is not obvious until you point the registers to symbols in memory, but once named registers defined in rules start to be rewritten, it suddenly becomes a very powerful OISC rewriting engine system, moreso than Thue if I dare say:

I don't think that FOC has to be permacomputing or even low-energy, it can be out of reach to me and that's totally fine. I'm stuck in the past due to our situation I don't wish this onto anyone, and it shouldn't be the threshold to meet.
Slack is the Past Of Coding, being closed and proprietary is directly at odds with the FOC/Malleable mission. I think it should adopt someone that is the future, could it make use of of some prototype from Ink&Switch for example?

yeah it's tricky, the FOC catering only to the equipped sends a pretty strong statement, but like you said, now might be a good moment to look at what message it wants to project and which members they choose to facilitate access to.

my point is more, it will keep eroding and they will still not leave. Being able to use slack at all requires computing systems of the year, and excellent connectivity. It's the privileged ones that are allowed to remain.

the idea of people still using slack in 2024 is a bit ridiculous, if someone didn't jump ship back when the platform started falling apart, I don't think anything like this would make them do it today. They're like Everquest players at this point.

The html5 emulator for Varvara encodes roms in the url so they can be easily shared. The encoding is twofold:

Oekaki is a small(4000 bytes) drawing program.
Last night, I've found a way to optimize(code crimes) the line drawing implementation and added natural brush options to thin out the line based on stroke speed.
