Long sunny days softly swaying around our anchor, turning this way, warm rays sweep across the galley, now this way, a breeze lifts specks of fragrant dust off the basil leaves, with nothing to do. But reading until my elbows are sore, contemplating, gazing, birdsong listening, birdname guessing, shore inspecting, eye squinting, tiny swallows skirting over the water, bird spotting! And some napping.
There's that hurry that goes away at anchor when there's no rent to pay, no store to waste away into, no bandwidth to keep up with anything or anyone, but there's always sun and there's always something to take care of, roasting, bubbling, cooking in the solar oven. And there's always flour to mill when we're restless, and there's probably something to clean, but there's never boredom, at least not the kind of boredom that comes with that hurry.

they could yeah, I'd need to expose the manifest, I haven't found a standard that I'm entirely happy with yet, so every program has a slightly different manifest. But that's only part of the puzzle, using left with a screen reader, even if your SR could inject the manifest would be a miserable experience, it would be like trying to do stuff in GIMP, it does a LOT, and a lot has to do with something a blind person would never need, like highlight, nav bar controls, various front-end things.
You should try playing with Fenrir, it's CLI but it's fun and it gives a good idea of where they fall short quickly. I was told recently that VT-100 was slightly more accessible, and I've been meaning to look into it :)

I've been puzzling over some bootstrapping thing, and thinking about @npub1fc6…2khj working on the x86 for it, I was curious to how small a binary I could make for the #uxn interpreter that is still capable of running the self-hosted assembler.
It sits at 11648 bytes right now, and it's mostly just blank space.

Andrew Gibson(adventuresin9)'s talk yesterday at #iwp9 about file system gave me so many ideas, but one thing that struck me was his highlighting BeOS' metadata, making it possible to use files as contacts, recipes, anything really and view these tags in the file manager. IT'S SO COOL, I want to build that for myself now.

I've always been interested in the connection between linear logic and reversibility, but lacked a language malleable enough that reversibility could emerge naturally from its resource model rather than enforced as a separate concern.
Most programming languages are designed as if thermodynamics don't apply, and when it is considered, reversibility is either bolted on as a constraint or the language's entire point. In a linear resource model, every transformation must account for what it consumes, information cannot be silently acquired or discarded. Reversible computing might be a way toward zero energy dissipation, and this is how I choose to explore it!

A made a backpack!
I've used one of these fantastic canvas commuter bags from Banjo Brothers for over 15 years, but having finally worn it out to the point where the canvas was so brittle that you could poke holes with your index finger, I didn't have the heart to throw it away after so many years of faithful service.
So, I cut all the seams off, layed it all out, traced each part on fresh 14oz canvas and tried my best to make a new one. I've taken the opportunity to improve some things.
I certainly hope that it may last for another 15 years.

There's 4 layers at the bottom :) The bag I've clone here I've used 15 years, I hope it lasts somewhere around that time. I noticed how the wear happened and re-enforced these areas! It has done surprisingly well considering the awful weather conditions I've dragged it through.
