Much the same as they’ve done with NordVPN. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak This is exactly the type of shit a nation state actor would post to get you to buy into their shadow company. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Unfortunately this makes sense. From an Information Security standpoint, it is EXTREMELY common to have candidates apply that are completely self taught and have been brainwashed by the InfoSec certification industry to believe if they buy the course and get their cert, they get a job. They have absolutely zero practical experience with networking or enterprise environments in general. It’s very disheartening to see the influx of these types of certification companies advertising to individuals how prestigious passing their course will made them when it’s just not true at all. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Whether you want to believe it or not, mass surveillance is happening everywhere... right in front of your face. Just because your government isn't talking about it doesn't mean it's not happening. It's actually the exact opposite of that. They'll also tell you it's in the best interest of national security but why? So they can catch criminals? How many criminals have you heard of being caught using these systems? And even so, why would they be creating profiles on everyone else while they're at it? #privacy #freedom #nostr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ur1JyiwINQ npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak This is one of my favorite gifs and it bums me out it doesn’t play. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak The surveillance state isn’t coming… it’s already here. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Just so you know, that was my first ever zap. They want it to be theirs. Any time we come up with something that would push the betterment of peoples lives, they will take that from us to ensure they control that something so they can have say so over when our lives get better and when they don’t. “Inferiors revolt in order that they may be equal, and equals that they may be superior. I wonder if we'll eventually get to a point where there are relay aggregators where you can go and add your relay to a "master relay" so that someone only has to add one relay to get access to tons of them at once. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak (Please note this is just a rebuttle of that study and in no way aimed towards you as I believe we're on the same page with this) npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak It's wild how if you read the original article that they all link to, there's contradictory evidence all over. For example, Dr Zhong whom originated the study was on record saying “However, the long-term health effects of time-restricted eating, including risk of death from any cause or cardiovascular disease, are unknown.” The study is also biased in that it included 20k people from ONLY the U.S. It also states people that practiced time restricted eating had a 91% higher risk of death to due to cardiovascular disease but “The study identified an association between an 8-hour eating window and cardiovascular death, this does not mean that time-restricted eating caused cardiovascular death.” And finally, their polling audience was skewed. The only correlation they had were people that practiced time restricted eating and deaths from that same time frame per the quote "They reviewed information about dietary patterns for participants in the annual 2003-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) in comparison to data about people who died in the U.S., from 2003 through December 2019, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Death Index database." This means they weren't properly tracking what they were eating at all, relying on the participants to self report intake, which could have easily contributed to the death. It is America after all and that entire country ranks at #10 in the world for obesity with 41% of population being classified as obese. That could potentially mean of the 20,000 participants, 8200 of them were obese. So in conclusion, that study is dumb. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I may not wish I would have spent more time on it but I more than likely will have wished I had met and talked to more people. And maybe your recommendation for mobile as well? npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Fascinating. Despite having sent my initial response via Primal for web, your second response(the one I’m replying to now) and Enki’s response before yours are only in my Damus mobile app and aren’t in the Primal app at all. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Did you know for the first 10 years of Crocs existence they were a basically a joke and then they got their break by being worn by everyone in the movie Idiocracy? npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak How long will it be before insurance companies are using all of this information along with an AI analysis of said data to deny you healthcare based off of pre-existing conditions caused by your lifestyle? And in the U.S. in particular, insurance companies are allowed to exploit every loophole possible to make and save money. They will be able to tie the data from your driving record your car sends and the purchases you make to say you are high risk and deny you coverage. This isn't coming soon, this is already here. You just don't realize it's happening right before your eyes. #freedom #privacy #nostr npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak As most of us know, our privacy has slowly been taken away from us bit by bit for decades. In this article, they explain how a mans car insurance premiums went up by 21% because his car was sending telemetry data back to the auto manufacturer, whom was then selling it to LexisNexis. The car insurance companies are then purchasing this no-context information from LexisNexis and using it to raise car insurance premiums of drivers. It will not stop here. This is just the beginning. If you're a daily drive Linux, I highly recommend checking this out and making sure you know the in's and out's of your system. Unlike MacOS and Windows, Linux does not inherently secure your entire system. There are many default applications and services that run that you may not need(such as CUPS) that should be shut down if you do not intend to use them. I also recommend using this guide as a baseline for securing your Linux installs and to do more research on each section listed here to ensure you understand the full scope of what each item entails. #linux #privacy #security #freedom #note1kj5…85kd npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Usually for any type of withdrawal to fiat, you're going to run into KYC. In the U.S. especially you're unable to sell crypto and withdrawal fiat unless KYC is implemented because of capital gains tax. Government gotta get their piece of the pie. There's just no sure fire way of using an app to pull out fiat from crypto without it. Those types of exchanges get shut down almost immediately. That's why so many on here advocate for the use of BTC as a currency instead of swapping back and forth to fiat. Swapping back and forth to fiat eliminates the point of BTC as a whole. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak So melatonin is supposed to be naturally produced when the sun goes down. However, it’s not fully KYC because they aren’t verifying that information with a government ID because you can’t cash that out from Primal to USD or some other currency. Only exchanges are fully KYC. The Primal app is a one way purchase. For now at least. And like I said you can put in whatever information into those fields you want and there’s no verification of that info. So.. lie. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak None of the info you put in there has to be true nor do they validate it in any way. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I also said DS9 instead of Voyager like a plebe. The "open office floor plan" doesn't breed collaboration and creativity.. it stifles it. However, while PQC encryption standards like PQ3 are indeed groundbreaking in safeguarding our online interactions, they don't address the most critical vulnerability: Physical access to our devices. No matter how sophisticated our encryption methods become, if someone gains access to our physical device, they can potentially bypass all those digital safeguards and access our sensitive information. I cannot stress enough the importance of strong holistic security measures. While PQ3 encryption is a great next step, we must remain vigilant about protecting the physical security of our devices. People should be able say what they want even if you don’t agree with it. If they say things ypu don’t agree with, there are means of which to keep from seeing that content. Those in power will censor that which they don’t agree with to control the narrative. Unfortunately that means there will be things said that people find offensive. I can only imagine how devastation that must be. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I’m inclined to agree with you. It’s really unfortunate seeing how much of their lives individuals pour into those accounts. The individual I know had the account for almost two decades years. They had at least 16 years of photos of their children on there. In an instant they were gone forever. People take advantage of platforms like Facebook not charging them for photo storage and are oblivious to the fact things like this can happen and they lose their everything. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Situations like this are the reason platforms like nostr are so important. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak May their development live on in the FOSS community. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Fuck those corporations. Hopefully we see nostr sign ups go up. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I saw this happen to someone I know recently. Completely locked out of their account and Meta not willing to help them get it back. They have to know that this is global issue with their platform.. it's fascinating to me they don't take more initiative to help people get their accounts back seeing how as those people are how they make all of their money. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I've been playing with 0xChat, a chat application built on nostr, and have to say that the experience is pretty great for where it's at in it's lifecycle. Having the ability to spin up your own node and host chats and channels in the app is one of the better privacy oriented experiences you could have. Especially with no registration required and encrypted messages. As development continues, I can see this application rivaling apps like Matrix, SimpleX, and Session. https://0xchat.com/ npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Debian has come a really long way. It also seems like it has the most stable and supported builds on the market right now. I made it a point to switch from other major mainstream OSs a couple months ago and honestly haven't gone back. It's much much easier to make the switch to Linux now than it has been in the past since almost everything we do these days is in a browser. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak What type of experience are you looking for and what hardware are you gonna toss it on? I recently put Pop on an older(2015) Macbook Pro and getting WiFi to work was a major pain in the ass but once it was working everything was fine. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak This is fckn wack. ProtonTax launching when? 😉 npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak If you're looking for a daily driver, might I recommend Pop!_OS? It's privacy oriented and actively developed by System76. I've found it to be a very adopter friendly Linux OS. https://pop.system76.com/ npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak What is this service? I looked for a readme page but didn't immediately find anything. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Especially when the things you lose are "friends". npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak These aliases are meant to be a "catch all" type email address that forward mail on. Proton does in fact let you create new email addresses from the settings menu that you can send email from but the primary use case with the aliases is so you don't have to disclose your actual email address when signing up for new accounts. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak By participating in the EU digital wallet program, you are building a profile of your most private life details and handing it to the the government in a convenient digital package. Might as well have a bow on top. To be fair, many also do this far more willingly with something far more common around the ENTIRE world: Their cellphone. #note1fww…ttqg npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak That’s one gorgeous view. Is it expensive to live there? npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I'm not a big fan of any type of "login with" authentication. Big fan of email aliases that Proton generates to create email based logins so I can just kill that thing when I'm done with it. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Pardon my lack of background on your project but I think it’s super awesome and have a question; will there be version history in the future? I’m assuming yes but wanted to ask. Keep up the good work. This looks great. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak The LibreBoot project, which helps subvert this, actually had an update yesterday: https://libreboot.org/news/libreboot20240225.html It appears they’re working for a a full update by this summer. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I’m now working to implement nostr as the authentication mechanism IDP for Matrix/Mattermost to assist with E2EE on both platforms. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Im cl0ak and I’m a digital freedom and privacy advocate. Wtf America? #note19zs…n53n npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Please stop saying the ATT outage was due to a solar flare. That's unequivocally false. Consider the following: 1. Solar flares almost always only affect the daylight facing side of the sun. The solar flares happened during the night time for the U.S. It's already been reported it primarily affected Africa, Indonesia, Australia, etc. 2. If it was a solar flare, it would have affected more than just the ATT cellphone network. There were other networks affected but it was primarily ATT network. And in many places competitors purchase bandwidth off of other carriers to provide service where they don't have their own dedicated resources. 3. ATT has been COMPLETELY SILENT about this event. There has been no official statement regarding this outage. For every other outage, they are front and center letting people know what's going on and when they can expect services to be restored. This was almost assuredly one of two things: 1. A bad code push that broke the entire network. I'm only including this because it is a possibility and most maintenance windows happen at night when there is minimal service usage. But why would it affect the entire U.S.? 2. It's a cyber attack. This is the most reasonable scenario. All of the signs point to this being a cyber attack of monumental proportion. It's not like cellphones were still connecting to towers and just didn't have service. The cellphones had ZERO connection to the towers. The towers were hard down. This leads an assumption of an actual attack on telco infrastructure. Who was behind the possible attack? Who knows. I'm sure we'll hear soon enough. npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak OpenWRT has support for Asterisk: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/voip/asterisk npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak Own your data. #note1le5…vm4g npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak It's the matrix for sure but fuck it might as well have some fun while we're here right? npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak How can you only be charged with resisting arrest.. to resist arrest you must be being arrested.. for something.. right? So how can your only charge be resisting arrest? npub18r5lss37t8t5mcjy3zucx4s7kjsellhkgjdl300qjn7j3e3wy7us4tmk68 cl0ak I've been heavily diving into the digital privacy space and am curious if anyone has any insight into how you can create a fully private chat server that doesn't talk back to the developers servers or any of that. Fully self hosted and cut off from the world. I figured Mattermost or Matrix.. but Matrix is extremely complicated to set up(though I managed to do so). Thoughts?
