never in my life have I disconnected a battery to do work on a car, unless it was to replace the battery. this includes "serious" work like replacing the rod bearings.
no "damage" comes from being unplugged, but recent experience with a recently built model taught me that it's annoying.
maybe it's common practice in your part of the world. but I've never seen it or heard of it

Almost everything about the Japanese effort was lost. There are stories about them doing a test of a device in Korea, but it is unclear to me if they actually achieved fission. I highly doubt they did. And if there were proof of a substantial Japanese atomic effort, I would expect that the US government would have used that fact to further justify the use of the bomb.

@npub1xpz…cqs2 What I do now is to turn the heat down to 55F, wear a long sleeve t-shirt and a microfleece toque, using a sheet under two microfiber blankets, covered over with another sheet so that the blankets aren't exposed directly to drafts. This arrangement is enhanced with a heating pad under the cover sheet on the mattress, down where my feet are.
Warm feet, not-cold shoulders, not cold head, cold air equals sleep.

I found out why I was paying him, when he set me straight and explained that sending my own demand letter preserved my rights.

Well, we're a long way from having a judgement.
But that link does have some good advice. I remember when trying to collect on a debt about 25 years ago, I learned that the laws were such that you were WAY better off handling the collection yourself personally, because if you had an attorney do it, laws governing debt collection agencies would be trigger, slowing down the process significantly.
