That's not how it works in this case. Solo CK isn't a traditional pool where they pay out proportionally, you still get the block reward sent to a solo address.
Solo CK just provides the service of managing a node and creating block templates as well as sending work to miners. Solo mining on your own node is cool but most solo miners aren't well equipt to do extensive testing on latency and uptime to make sure they are maximizing their reward potential.
Whoever runs Solo CK takes 2% for this service and it goes to a separate address in the coinbase transaction. Check the pool history to see how this works.

Short term, I'm looking to make a parallel move and find another restaurant job where I can get some money while I finish school. I have experience managing and had responsibilities like making a schedule, hiring employees, and optimizing payroll.
Long term, I have an associates degree now and will have a bachelors degree in Business Management with a minor in Blockchain (that word sucks lol) and I really want to do something which is related to economics, Bitcoin, and personal finance. There are a few local organizations which help youth manage debt and do financial planning which are interesting, but that would pay significantly less.
I really appreciate the support - I'm venting to you all because I know people on here are full of great advice and lots of life experience. Ultimately I'm sure the path will become clear but it feels very shaky now.

I'm blowing it up in fiat land (I know, poor timing) and I'm quitting my job.
The business I work at has provided me with a lot, but there is a lack of structure, no sense of direction, and an abundance of nepotism which has reached a breaking point.
The owners son got angry at a slight critique and walked out on his shift. Left for a week with no communication, and now he is back like nothing ever happened. He's the highest paid employee here too.
If it wasn't for Bitcoin I probably would've kept letting it slide, but I have been afforded an opportunity to seek a better situation. I want to surround myself with people who reflect my values and push me to be a better version of myself.

You can value anything in anything. You can value cars in bananas if you'd like, and I'm sure some people will try that for as long as we have freedom. But money is a network good and its not useful or practical to value things in a worse money that less people use. Bitcoin is the best money and once most people use it, it will be the standard for value.
And then once everyone else sees how much their other shit is losing value against Bitcoin, we will have a true Bitcoin standard.

To be clear: When I can, I use Bitcoin to spend. Merchant adoption has little to do with store of value though and store of value will remain the most important use until we reach enough density to have a circular economy.
I've personally made a POS station for my work which enables us to accept Bitcoin over lightning for our entire menu. But the average customer here is 60 and nobody has demand for that yet. The time will come for medium of exchange but only when >30% of people value it as a store of value.

Bitcoin the the supreme measurement of value which all other things will be measured against. Bitcoin itself is the units of energy you are describing.
I do think all of our existence will be measured in terms of Bitcoin. Whether that extends past earth is not relevant. Infinity represents the total wealth that is possible. In practice it is finite, but it can and will grow forever which is why it is represented this way. 21 million is the ruler.
You might think I'm just repeating quotes and shilling Bitcoin, but the actual idea is one I believe and it has a lot of depth and meaning yo it. If you don't get it or disagree, that's your right.

The other block I'm thinking of (855363) had over 1 minute between blocks and included over 1500 transactions. Normally empty template blocks are just the coinbase output.
It seems like there blocks include very few OP returns and also very few old transactions (greater than 2 weeks). It's possible they are working from a significantly different memory pool or one which got whiped and restarted.

While I agree those are all issues, there is no technology without tradeoffs. I personally don't think that those make lightning unusable or even especially difficult, and they are problems which exist with lots of internet technologies.
It will continue to get better and different layers with different tradeoffs will start to be more popular. 5 years ago, there barely was a lightning network. Now, it likely accounts for the majority of Bitcoin transactions (not by volume obviously but by quantity).
For better or worse, probably over half the world is waiting until their bank offers a Bitcoin checking account before they decide to try using it. And that isn't because of a small blocksize or high fees, blocks are basically empty right now. So let's not break a good thing.

I wouldn't say it is the goal. Complete freedom and self custody is always the goal. But I do think that this is a realistic outcome, and I don't believe it would be due to technical challenges. Most people don't want that level of responsibility that comes with that freedom.
If one day it becomes clear that 250M+ are trying to use base layer Bitcoin, my perspective may change.

I've been seeing a lot of talk about privacy on here recently and I want to share my two sats.
Privacy is a very important and valuable tool. Societies which respect individuals will treat privacy as a human right and enforce your ability to decline revealing information through law.
However, privacy will never and can never be perfect, and it will never be as important to a society as it's underlying monetary system.
Privacy will always consist of trade-offs. I use this platform to communicate, and that has a trade off for privacy. The reality is, most people are comfortable revealing some information about themselves if it achieves a goal they see as being more valuable than the cost.
When it comes to base layer privacy as a monetary network, Bitcoin has somehow become underrated. There is no ID system, no names, no physical addresses. Just public keys and Bitcoin addresses, which often leave tons of plausible deniability and are impossible to be proven to be yours without you signing an address or giving someone your public key. Even a simple one input, two output transaction starts to muddy the water on true ownership.
The problem Bitcoin currently has in the US is the abundance of KYC laws and the frequent use of exchanges. In a circular Bitcoin economy, it would only take a couple interactions before the whole UTXO history becomes nearly impossible to track with any level of certainty around who owns what, aside from those who participated in the specific transaction.
Evolution happens in stages. Right now, 95% of people in America use a bank which gives them exactly zero privacy. Every single transaction is surveilled with 100% confidence that you are making it, and all your balances and assets are known. Even worse, the bank knows which businesses you transact with, how frequently, and at what specific times.
Base layer Bitcoin is already an impovement on this system (with a different set of tradeoffs) and tools like lightning and ECash have the potential to destroy this surveillance. The real problem with privacy is not a technical one - it is a social one. People need to actually demand it and expect to transact freely without having to self report every time you do so.
As I stated, the ability to decline revealing information to others should be a foundational human right. But currently, our problems with privacy come from our broad cultural disinterest in it and our willingness to give up all of our information through the use of threats and coercion. Alternative monetary networks with different privacy trade-offs are not a solution to that problem, and in the process they would undermine the much more important upgrade to the monetary system which is currently taking place.
