With everything that my wife and I went through last year, I really quit listening to US politics. Doing so really assisted in helping my general mood and outlook on life and America improve.
I listened to presidential and political content all day today. It was extremely taxing to say the least. Glad I don't follow it anymore. Looking forward to the election season to be over. Opting out, chosing #Bitcoin.

It concerns me for our own country. I understand it is a more reliable and stable currency than most currencies in other countries. I don't like that the USA exporting our financial debts and making the rest of the world pay for it. I also recognize that I'm extremely privileged to live in the USA with the US Dollar being the world reserve asset.

This may be an alternative method if you live well below your means.
At the next bear market take out a personal loan for whatever you're comfortable with.
Make a lump sum purchase of #Bitcoin using the loan. You don't have to worry about trading then, just make the monthly loan payments instead of worrying about buying in and out of #Bitcoin. So long as #Bitcoin is above the initial loan amount, you're net positive.

I appreciate your view on wanting to own the land you live on. Here are a few things to consider.
Everyone needs a place to live. Apartments should offer affordable housing to allow people to get up on their feet. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to live with their parents or family until they can buy a place.
Additionally, there are some people who aren't interested in the responsibility of owning a home. They don't want to worry about property taxes, insurance, and most importantly - maintenance. Sometimes people need a place to rent because they are only in town for a few months for work. Not everyone wants to be a homeowner.
I think that single family homes will become more affordable as #Bitcoin is adopted more as a store of value. The only property I'd be interested in owning as an investment for rental income is multifamily housing, or commercial buildings.
I also believe owning and managing rental property is a service industry. Where you should work to provide the best quality of service to your tenants. This opinion is not shared by all in my industry, but at least I can sleep easy knowing I'm providing the best quality of service to my tenants.

I suspect that you are correct. For most people I think it'll be harder to sell the closer it gets to paying off their home, credit cards, cars, kids' college, etc. I don't expect the same for most hardcore hodlers. We do all we can to save in Sats, and keep living below our means as to not have to touch them.
However, in the next 5-20 years I think you'll be able to play your cards in a manner that you won't have to sell. If you have something like major medical, or other unexpected life expense come up, you'll likely be able to get a collateralized loan against some of your Sats. I'd like to believe most people will be wise enough to do something along those lines, as opposed to dumping their Sats.
I plan to get a loan like that when they mature to buy an income generating asset like a duplex, triplex, fourplex, or small apartment complex. Use the rental income to pay the loan off. As Bitcoin keeps growing in strength against the US Dollar you'll be able to keep reducing your collateral until the loan is paid off. No loss of your own Sats.
If you default or have to forfeit your Sats to pay off the loan, then the original plan was to sell them for whatever you needed taken care of in the first place. Meaning you're not really out anything more than you would have been otherwise.

I don't think this is a lifeline. #Nostr is the only online social media where you can rest assured that the people you follow and interact with are the real deal. We're all responsible for our own #keys on the #plebchain. No centralized company to be hacked. No one to censor your reach. This is the town square. The rest of the world just hasn't gotten out of bed yet.

I'd be interested to hear about your #BitAxe experience. I don't have internet at home, nor a dedicated IP at my office in town. So I run my #Bitcoin node on #Tor at our office 24/7. Not sure how the #BitAxe work, mainly if they need a reachable IP or not.

My full #Bitcoin #node only reaches #Tor when I have #TorBrowser running. If #TorBrowser isn't running I have no #Onion address for my #node. If it is running, I do have a reachable #Onion address. The set-up technically works, since I have both inbound and outbound connections. It would be nice if I could just run the #BitcoinNode without the need to keep #TorBrowser open 24/7 alongside it.
Anyone else have to deal with that? OS is Windows 10 Pro.

If the USA government moves back towards a hard money standard, with a basket of Bitcoin and precious metals being the backing, then I think that would also reshape USD as it is known today. Pumping the value of Bitcoin, and USD against commodities and consumer goods.

As I write this here today, I reflect on the last five of the happiest years of my life. You're more than everything I was looking for in a soulmate, and you make the entirety of my world brighter. What we've built together, this life we call "ours," is so much more than I ever expected to be blessed with.
I'm so very honored to be able to support you. You are truly one of the most intelligent and kind people I've ever met. You've grown from middle school science teacher, to high school math teacher. Both while tackling two masters degrees and working full time. Now you're preparing for your first year as a college math professor. One step away from your dream job as a Chemistry Professor. Of course, we both know that's just the professional things I get to be proud of you for accomplishing. I'm most proud of, and grateful for, your devotion to our family. Despite all of the schooling, and career growth, you always find time for me and our family. You always make sure I'm spoiled with home cooked meals and pastries. You make me feel heard, not just listened to. You help take care of the monthly budget, so I can worry about the investments for our future. You accept my input, and trust in my decisions. You help me in all the smallest ways you can. You support me in every way you can. I love that we get to craft together (I'll be honest, I mostly build Lego while you do the impressive stuff). The most important part of our journey has been our devotion to having children. Three and a half years into our marriage we found out that we wouldn't be able to conceive children of our own. A tough pill to swallow, considering growing our family through children was a primary life goal of ours. You didn't miss a beat though, and immediately got to work learning about adoption. You found a wonderful agency for us to work with, and with a lot of budgeting you helped line us up for an adoption. An adoption that came far sooner than we expected, by the grace of God we were blessed with our son.
I had the pleasure of watching you be the best mom a baby could ever hope for. Although we had plenty of rough nights as new parents, we managed them together, and always made sure we took care of each other along the way.
Two months into being new parents we had to take our son to the ER. We spent our four year anniversary in the hospital with him. That night, one year ago today, we were told he needed a life line flight to a better equipped hospital. So commenced the best and worse three and a half months of our lives. A lifetime lived together, loved together, and spent together. A lifetime come and gone sooner than we ever could have known. Throughout all of that, we just kept pulling each other closer. For our sakes, and our son's, we came together.
We stand here today to take back our anniversary, at the start of the sixth year of our marriage. Only eight months after we had to say a final goodbye to our son in this world. A few months ago you recreated the meal we shared when I proposed to you all that time ago. Then you proposed to me, so that we could have a chance to grow past the tragedy of this day together. Today, I stand here more in love with you and empowered by your love than I've even been before. I look forward to our next year of marriage filled with hope for our future, hope for our future children, and in remembrance of our son who is with us everyday in spirit. Thank you, that should be helpful. The only thing I noticed was that in order for my node to have an onion address, I needed to have Tor Browser running. I think there's a way to tie the Tor service to Bitcoin Core, but I'll have to work on that tomorrow.

It looks like CGNat is my hang up. The ISP is pooling us with other traffic. So I don't have an inboud IP to be pinged. Which is why my port shows open when I check the local network, but Nmap says I have 0 IP addresses.
Now I've gotta figure a way around that without having access to the account for the ISP. I'm thinking of potentially running a VPN with a dedicated IP and porting options. Or really going down a rabbit hole and learning about Tor.

I cannot for the life of me track down why my Bitcoin Core Node isn't receiving any inbound connections. Number of connections 10 (In: 0 / Out: 10). Port forwarding for TCP and UDP for port 8333 external and internal. Windows Defender Firewall exemption for Bitcoin Core GUI. Two separate rules to exempt Port 8333 through the Firewall. Can ping it from my local network, but not over the internet.
It's possible my ISP is blocking it, but I can't confirm that since I'm not the account holder. Just running a separate router off the shared office building wifi. In the USA, so I that should rule out any government restrictions.

I was running a pruned node, but am working on converting it to a full node. Just taking a while cause it's on an HDD. Bought an SSD to replace it, so it should be up and running in its full glory on Monday.

I'm excited to be on Nostr. Which is neat, because I've never been excited about nor felt like jumping into a social media community. I've never felt like being active on social media platforms, because I've always felt there's no ownership to what you post. USA for me. I suppose I'm blessed, because the worst I deal with is 48-72hr hold on our paychecks when my wife and I deposit them. An irritating experience after seeing #Bitcoin in action. Both via on chain and Lightning.
Additionally, I'll add the entirety of my interactions with #Coinbase whom froze our account and funds for "Suspicious Activity" for four month, after we started a mad dash to save as much of our time and energy as possible in #Bitcoin. I'm trying to close my account, which I haven't used in probably ten months now, and they just put a 72hr hold on transfering 32000 Sats to a LN address.
So happy we found @nprofile…dgdu for future stacking.

I do disagree with his final statement that #Bitcoin is not an instrument for hope.
#Bitcoin is hope. Hope for a fair economic policy for all the people of earth. Hope for a future for us and our heirs, and their heirs. Hope that my value today, will be as valuable as in the future. I think that the final reward block to be mined will be viewed similarly to Y2K. People will think there's no reason that #Bitcoin time chain will keep running with no block reward. As we draw closer to that in a hundred plus years, the miner fees on transactions will balance it out. I wonder if people will even know about Y2K at that point...

I really like that concept. I just started learning about Lightning, and it's going to take me a while to get comfortable enough to set up and run a LN node. I really like your new implementation for Zaps, and look forward to being able to use it. The only reason I set up my non-custodial LN with Speed was for use with Nostr, since I don't know any Bitcoiners.
