I am also uninterested in using them personally, but that doesn’t mean I should judge how someone else wants to use the protocol. If bitcoin’s functionality is compromised by the existence of inscriptions, then the project was doomed anyway.

Ordinals and inscriptions are a clever use of the protocol. We should be applauding the innovation and interest in testing the limits of what most deem an archaic blockchain.
As far as I can see, nothing about them creates an attack vector in the way people have been portraying.
Besides, the ordinals concept has likely already been created by chainal companies, it was inevitable.

This is wrong. Inscriptions are more costly than a simple financial transaction. If the blocks fill up, then inscriptions will cost far more and are likely to subside.
