Obesity is starting even in the womb. Babies are getting bigger and bigger (in America, formula has corn syrup in it). I've seen arguments with mom's with GIANT babies who say "he came out at 18 pounds so it makes sense he's 22 pounds at 4 months!" Except babies are getting bigger in the womb too because of mom's diet, leading to more and more C-sections.
Plus you have a giant competition when you have a baby on who's is biggest. I recently saw a mom post "my 3 month old baby is 20 pounds, the doctor said they don't see that until a year usually!" Like it's something to be proud of. Comparing growth charts too. This leads to a lot of parents forcing their baby's to eat more than they want, or even more unhealthy things, to keep up with the competition. Not to mention, like you said, the abysmal crap that's in foods. Then there's a fact of healthy eating being pushed too hard on babies. Like, you shouldn't give your baby any seasonings. Then they don't eat because mashed broccoli tastes like mush, then the parent gets worried and starts feeding them Mac and cheese every night just to get them to eat.
I mean there's so many factors leading to these issues, it's insane. And when I have seen mom's try to talk about it, they get shot down for "shaming" fat children. Even though it's a serious thing that leads to a variety of health problems.

Omg, I completely understand this. when I was first "starting out" I would never use credit. I save up and paid cash for everything. I got punished for this by not having a credit score and no one trusted me. Some places said they'd rather see a bad credit score than no credit score! So they'd rather see you can get in debt than avoid it?

Im looking it up and it's saying probably because I made a large purchase. Even though it was less than 10% of my credit amount I can use, it was still large to get reported to the bureau and they view me as "financial risk." Why they don't drop the score until AFTER I have the opportunity to pay it off is mind blowing to me. Like it hasn't even been a month yet to see if I'll pay any off, but just cause it got reported they dropped it.
You know what funny? Next month when I pay off the large amount and it gets reported as $0 to them, they're not going to raise my score back twenty points.
I swear, people who are bad at finances get rewarded more than people who are responsible. Because if you're responsible, they get so shocked when you actually *gasp* use your fucking credit!

I'm grateful for fellow women.
Took my little one to the park, it was sort of last minute, so I didn't have what I normally carry on me to make me feel safer. There was only one woman there feeding her baby. I took my LO to the swings and am swinging him. Suddenly this sketchy guy in a hoodie comes up and sits on the swings near us. He's drinking from a water bottle which obviously has alcohol in it and he starts talking to...me, himself? Saying how this was the last place he expected to be today. He's definitely not in a good mood and seems unhinged. So I say out loud "look buddy, it's our friend's over there." And take my kid over to the woman feeding her baby. I tell her what's going on and she's more than understanding and tells us to hang out with them. Found out she was from Canada, probably why she was so nice. It was a good interaction. The man obviously didn't bug us, as there's safety in numbers during the day.
The sketchy guy eventually left but I'm just thankful I can go up to a woman like that and they instantly understand.

My parents got my kid a book exclusively from target (which is already a warning sign) called Reindeer is Here. As we're reading it, we notice some red flags. Starting with little things like using "snow girl" then moving to how "quirky and unique" you should be. Finally talking about how great "diversity" is. I look up the author and illustrator, not much on the author except that he likes to "promote diversity" - but with the illustrator, I immediately see she/her on her Instagram page. She says the same thing about "promoting diversity" in her artwork. I scroll down her page and see illustrations that are basically softcore porn (remember, she illustrates children books mainly).
Obviously throwing the book out, but it's angering how much these predators get away with being exposed for children. This book got sold out on Amazon within two hours - I'm sure "woke" parents patted themselves on the backs for getting it, or ignorant normies who won't look into this shit got it.

I've been on a Jane Austen binge, I read Pride and Prejudice, jumped to Jane Eyre (I know it's Bronte but it's like Pride and Prejudice's gothic equal), then Persuasion (burned through that one), Sense and Sensibility (so much drama in that one, I loved it), now I'm on Emma. I'm reading Emma right now by Jane Austen. It has to be one of the most frustrating books I've read. I knew going into it that it was Austen's intent for us was to not like the character, but man I didn't realize how good of a job she did on that.
I even looked up the spoilers for the book because I was so irritated when Emma convinced her friend to reject that marriage proposal, so I know how it ends which usually helps me when reading tougher stories, and I'm STILL having a hard time getting through it.

The lack of sternness and consequences too. And YES about too much choice. That whole "gentle parenting" thing (which I get a different definition of everytime I talk to someone). Like, oh little Jimmy doesn't want to put on his shoe to leave. Now I'm expected to get to the bottom of why he doesn't want to put on his shoe, and if I don't it's because I'm a lazy parent who doesn't want to do the work of looking into why my kid is throwing a tantrum every time he has one. No, little Jimmy, just put on the fucking show and let's go.
I've gotten told several times I use the word "no" too much with my kid, because his first word was no. And guess what? Half these people have children with behavioral problems and suddenly get diagnosed with autism from their school (but not actual medical diagnosis, those are too hard to get - a mom actually said this to me) and that label gives these parents who have never disciplined their kids an excuse for the behavior.
Not just discipline, but structure, and BOUNDARIES. I just talked to another friend with an older child who's kid was spitting, attacking, and biting her. She asked me my opinion because of my degree, saying she's tried gentle parenting, etc. for it, and I told her that she needs to teach her daughter it's not okay to do that and that her mom is a person who deserves not to be treated that way. So if she starts getting physical, put her in her room where she doesn't get the attention, take away events, ground her. Obviously trying to get to the bottom of the behavior "gently" isn't working. She told me that was borderline abusive. To let your kid NOT beat you up. So now her daughter is not getting taught to respect boundaries, and that also harms her daughter because that's also not teaching her how to hold boundaries. She's insistent her daughter has autism even though every professional in her life has evaluated this girl and she doesn't. But that explains her bad behavior, not her parenting, no.
Sorry for the novel. I could rant for days on this. Trying to raise your kid with structure and boundaries is frowned on and as a mom, I've heen getting so much backlash for it. Even though when a kid doesn't feel in charge and feels like they can rely on their parents, that we have it covered and they don't need to worry, it reduces anxiety and makes them happier.
(This comment is not going against actual autism diagnosis or saying anything negative about those kids. There is just a growing trend to get your kid falsely labeled with anything to explain their bad behavior when, coincidentally, those parents also give their child no consequences or structure and too much choice).

I'm not trying to be different here or quirky, but sunny, warm weather makes me feel genuinely depressed and unmotivated. I appreciate the sun and what it does, but a day with constant grey skies, and cold wind make me motivated to go out and just so happy and upbeat.
And I deal with summer and try to make the most of it...but when autumn has started and the weatherman is telling me it's supposed to be nice and grey all day, I get excited. Then to take my LO on a walk and suddenly the cloud cover leaves, and I feel this hot, humid sun on me just is not fun. I cut the walk short, and right when I got home the grey skies came back. It feels like a tease. I just want autumn officially here and summer evaporated.

Absolutely crazy! Wow. To put your entire life's work and the morals you claim to stand for at risk for a friend...I used to regularly donate to thorn but stopped when I wanted to find an organization that focused on adults as well. Ashton was always the face of it, I mean at least to me because that's how I heard of it to begin with. I think it was his congress appeal where I first heard of it. I also watch a YouTuber, Kendall rae, who regularly has fundraisers for it.

I am 100% against people blocking traffic. There are so many instances where it's harmful. You could have a hungry baby or child throwing a fit to get home, you could have some person with Chron's disease desperately needing a bathroom, you could have a car low on gas and was heading towards a gas station, but will run out idling there, some woman could be in labor on her way to the hospital, just countless examples of "non emergency" situations that are freaking time sensitive.
I just saw a video of these people blocking traffic in like, midday hot Arizona, so they NEEDED to keep their cars on for the cold air. Then the tribal police came and rammed their setup and tackled them. I was FOR it. Don't want your life in danger? Don't block traffic for no reason. Also, it will put me completely against whatever cause you're blocking traffic for.
