I wouldn't call it ill-informed. The only disagreement I have is I believe life is common in the universe. Complex life is likely more rare, and life advanced enough to leave its own planet, even briefly like we do, it's probably a million to one thing.
Of course, we have roughly half a million stars in this galaxy, so there are likely millions upon millions of planets. Civilizations just as advanced as ours could be littered throughout the galaxy, but we haven't even left the sphere of influence of our planet. The moon is basically our back yard astronomically speaking. On a galactic scale, our civilization is an embryo at best.
But, the part to focus on is where I think you are most correct in this. The Fermi paradox does not need to exist because of the sheer scale of the universe. We've been broadcasting radio waves for barely a century. The Milky Way is 100,000 light years across. This means our own radio waves have only reached a fraction of our galaxy. 10,000 stars at most, which sounds like a lot, but if life is a one in a million chance and moderately advanced life like us is a one in a billion chance, then it makes sense why we think we're alone.
You're correct. The scale of the universe is the far bigger issue. Even if we could access hypothetical wormholes, it's still unlikely we'll ever meet another advanced species like in Star Trek. But, perhaps their idea of creating a warp field bubble to travel through subspace isn't so crazy. I just heard a new hypothesis proposing spacetime has a weave or wormholes running through it and holding it together. I didn't understand it enough to repeat the explanation, but it sounded reasonable. If you're interested, you may consider looking into that one a bit more. Quite fascinating!
I could ramble about space stuff all day long, but I'll end with this. I believe you are correct that the Fermi Paradox is an unnecessary explanation. The sheer scale of the universe is absolutely the biggest challenge.

I just assumed since he's good buddies with Vince McMahon, this was some kind of work.
As you say, everything the last decade has been so beyond unbelievable that of course we'd assume this was bullshit. I'm still not entirely convinced it isn't. Though, I've convinced myself the average IQ of the audience members is the reason nobody is panicking or running compared to every other high profile shooting I've seen footage of.
I try to remember, I should never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.

I went out for a smoke and am now watching TV. I'm not shocked either. I'm just going to keep living my life as I currently am. It's the only way I'll ever have a chance to heal.

I've said more than once, if the next election does cause me to lose the disability benefits I paid into for decades which I desperately need, I will no longer have any moral qualms about turning to crime.
If you make it impossible for a person to live in an honest way, don't be surprised when they become dishonest.

Fascinating. I've been growing pumpkins for five years now. The first time was unintentional. Left a pumpkin out all winter figuring the deer would eat it, but it was too close to my home so they left it alone. That spring, I had my first pumpkin plants and I was officially bitten by the gardening bug.
This year, I noticed the way the first two leaves of the plant came out of the seed. They're oval and smooth, unlike the rest of the leaves. I figured the smoothness improves the chances of the plant extending out of the seed and rooting in without snags. I also noticed they tended to project from the stem in a way that would increase the amount of rainwater that gets to the roots. Fascinating little adaptation.
Today, I learned the other leaves are similar. It's been so warm but also quite humid. Plenty of moisture related to Beryl. Even after the rain stopped, the mature pumpkin leaves were continuing to try to steer water towards the roots. As the sun starting going down, the temperature dropped, and we're farther from actual rainfall, I'm noticing the leaves starting to flatten out more like I'm used to seeing them.
I've noticed this pattern in the past with maple leaves, but given the size of the maples in my area, the function was unclear. Seeing the same behavior in smaller plants makes it obvious.
Could I have read about this in a book? Probably. However, having learned this myself from actually gardening, observing the plants, and deducing through logic and reason is ideal for repairing my very broken brain. Plus, I find lessons learned the hard way stick.
Reading is valuable, for certain, but I can always look up facts in books when I need them. I can't get these direct impactful learning experiences from books. My brain simply isn't wired that way. I must do the thing!
I love learning this way. I suspect I always will.

I'm a vampire, so noon is early to me. I'm not usually properly moving and functional until around 2 or 3 in the afternoon when the sun starts descending and the heat starts to ease a little.
I imagine I usually go to bed when you get up to do your gardening.
