Anyone up for helping @npub1rex…daam and I run the 2026 DSF Board elections? https://forum.djangoproject.com/t/preparations-for-2026-dsf-board-elections/42836 No one’s volunteered for this yet, which I’ll take it to mean you all trust us to do a great job 😛 feedback would be nice though!

Next week– I’m at @npub1zrw…dw3d to talk about The future of Django ✨! Come! https://www.meetup.com/django-paris/events/310269324/ We can chat about @npub1apg…0ejz too!

Pretty sure #EuroPython 2025 was my top 1 fav conference ever. Just the perfect mixture of catching up with people I know, meeting people I don’t know, learning new things. Time well spent chatting w/ Python veterans and also first-timers
Volunteering there was ACE, and for #Django people, I’m thankful we got to have a booth, and birthday cake for our project
THANK YOU 🫶 to everyone who was part of this - attendees, organizers, sponsors, everyone

Tomorrow at the #EuroPython sprints – come contribute to Django with us! 💚 We’d love to see people who are interested in volunteering, as well as coders. Lots of opportunities for impactful contributions well beyond Django core

At #EuroPython lots of people are asking how many projects are built with @npub1l0c…kt92. The answer is about 500k to 1M. And yet we only raise $250k per year to support the project, yep, sustainability in open source is hard ☺️

As of a few weeks ago, I’m now the President of the Django Software Foundation 🌈 It’s a pretty big deal for me so I took a moment to share my thoughts on what it means, and my high-level plans for @npub1l0c…kt92: https://thib.me/president-of-the-django-software-foundation. Onwards!

I find this all so disrespectful of people’s time and energy. Not saying any one contributor is, just the process Django’s arrived at

Just the other day @npub153q…fhe2 and I were discussing how for @npub1apg…0ejz we try hard to always _keep things open_ for further input for weeks if not months if the proposed changes aren’t so clear. Or if something’s not a good fit for a ticket, how we’re the ones transferring it to forum-style discussions & getting the discussion going at the same time as explaining the rationale. How we spend lots of time encouraging people to consider alternatives. None of this is particularly hard to do

This is such a poor process, you come motivated with good ideas, you’ve managed to find your way to the tickets, and then the next comment is "oh noes, you’re holding it wrong, instead you should’ve proposed that on the forum!"
🤮

🫠 why oh why does Django’s triage process need to be so harmful to new contributors https://blog.hartwork.org/posts/django-security-hardenings-that-are-not-happening/

Let’s see how the Django 6.x Steering Council will help drive that proposal towards a decision 👀

Thank you ❤️ to everyone who’s been attending the @npub1l0c…kt92 office hours over the last few weeks. It’s already one of my fav places to have challenging discussions with thoughtful people.
This was one of the most popular items from the _2022_ DSF members survey, so I’m really happy we finally have this in place.

@npub1zcc…afwd close *today*!
It’s the best way to upskill in open source contributions IMO. Very reasonable commitment, outstanding community, and the potential for high-impact, high-purpose contributions 👉 https://djangonaut.space/sessions/2024-session-3/
Consider it!
