Forget the nonsense about reviewing costs on Phase 1 of HS2, today's real news is that this government has announced in no uncertain terms that it will not be progressing with Phase 2 to Crewe, Manchester or Leeds.

AI alone means Google's GHG emissions have gone up by 50% since 2019.
This is abhorrent, and in my view is a good enough reason to shut down all generative AI altogether. It's an obscene use of our remaining carbon budget.
