Kobo does a good job of providing unprotected EPUBs when a publisher asks for it. They just download via the Kobo web site directly as EPUBs, with nothing else required.
For older out-of-copyright stuff, the “publisher” in that article is the problem.

That works too, but I really don’t like the direct fan on me, and the unique strength of a Vornado is that they really do circulate air around the room.

I have used one aimed at a window when isolating with COVID, to keep it from spreading through the house. They work well for that because they’re pretty powerful fans.

Might be, but the main purpose of a Vornado is to circulate the air so that the temperature evens out.
In my office, I have AC through a vent but that doesn’t really hit me where I sit - particularly given the heat around me from computer/monitor/me, etc. The Vornado keeps the air moving so I stay cool but I don’t have to actually aim it at me.
If you can get a window open at either end of your flat, one Vornado aimed IN from the outside might be enough?

Ugh. That has to be annoying.
I suspect that my office Vornado, which is one of the ones on a stand and is tilted up, is probably doing much of the work that a ceiling fan would do, though.
Or it would be if I had it turned on. Honestly don’t need it today.

My house near Lake Ontario in Ajax is still comfortable but I think we’re getting close to AC time.
What does help a lot is that I have a Vornado in my office. It’s great for moving area without that “I have a fan blowing on me” feeling.

I moved to CoSocial.ca @npub1was…gh5g last year. It’s a cooperative, so it has an annual fee. The plus side is it’s very well run and there is no need for them to fund-raise. It’s also been very stable. I’ve been pretty happy with it.
It’s a small instance though - just over 200 people at present.

Meanwhile Trump is threatening our borders, opening up US forestation to attack our forest industry, threatening us with removal from NORAD and Five Eyes (though we really should kick the US out at this point), and much more.
Are the Cons deliberately avoiding the threats against our sovereignty? It’s starting to look like the answer is “yes”.
