🤷‍♂️ ... most of them have it at work, just not at home. I had German roommates who said AC could be unhealthy if used too much. What's odd is that some Eastern Europeans think you can get sick from drafts or "the breeze." When I was visiting friends in Moldova, some of the buses would get stupid hot, but nobody opened windows (ironically contributing to their tuberculous problem). The Germans I knew, on the other hand, would usually open all the windows once a day to let air circulate in the house ... even though none of them have window screens (although I think this idea of breezes causing sickness is present in parts of German culture as well).
In the UK it usually doesn't get hot enough to warrant AC at home (similar to Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, where AC isn't common either since it rarely gets above 80F for more than a week or two out of the year), but Germany can get stupid hot (at least where I stayed for a few months in Jena).

Yea I was going to ask about that from the photo .. V8?
I've heard about those. The bolt on my Subaru is pretty easy to get off so I've never bothered. The Tacoma has one of those weird setups where you open the center of the filter and drain it first, then replace the filter. Only the previous owner screwed up the clips on mine and the whole thing comes out together and spills everywhere.
I'm going to get a full replacement assembly next time I do an oil change.

I switched back to my own car work when I finally got a garage again. I hate all the scanning/tracking of VINs at shops.
Last year I did all the oil in the Tacoma. 4x4s are beasts. Nearly 5 liters in the back pumpkin alone! and the front drain plug was impossible to get off since it used an Allen-key/hex bold (needed PB Penetrating oil, a heat gun and a breaker bar). I immediately replaced that plug with the Lexus version which used a regular damn socket bolt!
The transfer case also uses their weird oil OEM, and even if you take it to a Toyota/Lexus dealership they'll often just stick regular 75W-90 in. The OEM stuff is like $80/liter too, but Red Line makes a MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 that matches it.
I like putting in the effort and research to make sure I'm doing it right.

Yea but that will gunk up the injectors. I had a buddy who did the whole "dual fuel" tank thing. One was filled old cooking oil he bought from restaurants and the other was diesel. He had a switch on the dash so he cold always go back to diesel and clean everything out before parking. He also had a coil filled with hot coolant going through the veggie oil tank to heat it up to the right specific gravity so it would run better and gunk up less.
Lot of work. I think it was all done in an 80s Mercedes.

There are a lot of fields where it makes thing worse. There are some fields where it's unavoidable. I think the LLMs make shit code when people try to generate 10k+ lines at a time with spec driven development. But if it's used on small segments here and there, it can get you off the ground (but you still need to adjust 1/3 of it if you care about code quality).
Unfortunately, it's unavoidable in my field if you don't want to fall really behind. But it's also overused and I think the field will shift over to non-LLM coders within 6 years, getting paid way over market if they know how to code, to tackle and reverse the massive amount of slop.
TL;DR the religious angle would work for me with COVID-death-jabs, but not so much in the LLM era because it's more-than-marginally useful.

oh I had access to a CRT oscilloscope in our embedded systems lab in grad school. We had some LCD ones too, but the analogue ones just felt so much better. You could adjust your sample rate just right and get a perfect straight line from the aliasing from a sine wave generator.
I think TechMoan did a video on people in the demo-scene who get them to make all kinda of insane pictures from frequency input.

I dunno. What was the resolution of that first CRT? Did it just display lines? I've played on one of the original Asteroids units at a museum. CRT with analog circuits and those beautiful, crisp, sharp and haunting white lines .. and that came after decades of work; well past the radio era.

My parents bought a Word Book set. I looked through them all the time when I was a kid. I think my favorite was the entry on airplanes. It had diagrams for pitch and roll, and showed how flaps worked. I also had the Micropose fighter jet games (F-15, F-19, etc.) and Flight Simulator 4.0 for DOS, so it was neat seeing some of those planes in the encyclopedia and then playing them in a flight sim.
The Child Craft books World Book published were fun too. That's how I learned to Paper Mache.

As much as she is an idiot, the clip posted everywhere is so out of context when you listen to the entire argument. The Trump lawyer specifically makes the legal case that allegiance isn't voluntary, but is the product of the rules to which you are subject to. It's a very specific legal definition of allegiance, as well as of domicile.

There's a documentary I can't find on any torrent site. I decided to just buy it to support the creator. It's published on mymoviesplus.com though, and it requires DRM to play. Fuck if I'm enabling that ever. Of course, yt-dlp refused to download anything with DRM, even if you have --cookies-from-browser.
I know you can just use a screen recorder and record the whole thing manually, but surely there's a better way to break browser-based DRM (that of course won't show up on any search engine).
