Finally I have the about section working on cgit. Now just to workout why the highlighting doesn't work with either highlight or pygments .

I'm hitting a brickwall here with cgit on my test #FreeBSD server. It all works perfectly except for the about section is always blank. I can manually run the md2html with my README.md and I get output on the command line but never on the cgit about page. If I just make a text file then the filter does use exec cat and it's displayed. I'm sure I have the correct deps installed too. Oh also with highlights installed I the syntax hoighlighting comes out blank so I have commented that out in cgirc for now.

Yeah I noticed that I can manually run the filters from the command line too. Even tried pandoc to convert markdown to HTML but still cgit would not display the about section. The only thing that works is the line that just executes cat for text files.

Been playing with cgit in a #FreeBSD jail and I can get it to work with a repo but the about and actual viewing of the files under tree are blank until I comment out the script lines in cgitrc . Then they are just black text with.
I have highlight installed and the recommended scripts.
I used this page for an example. Anybody else running cgit on FreeBSD that could offer some help ?? #RunBSD

That's Beastie had their ram upgrade from 4 to 16Gb. Hope the Intel I7-4790 CPU upgrade turns up tomorrow. Then I'll be sorting out some more drives for a raid setup and slowly start migrating everything from the ancient Ubuntu celeron system. Then I'll maybe start adding other stuff to self host later after some much needed reading. #RunBSD #FreeBSD

Ok now I have another issue with my #FreeBSD testing box.
If I want to remotely reboot it I'd be stuck unless I can physically get to it to enter the Geli passphrase. So do I really just setup the box without Geli when I thought encryption was a good idea for a server ???

A wee update: I now can reach it from everywhere now.
I had the main interface set for DHCP so changed the lines in my /etc/rc.conf to:
ifconfig_re0="inet 192.168.0.166 netmask 255.255.255.0"
ifconfig_re0_alias0="inet 192.168.0.24 netmask 255.255.255.0"
Did a wee:
/etc/rc.d/netif restart && /etc/rc.d/routing restart
and everything is working.
I tell you this made me think but it was exciting. I'm really enjoying playing with #FreeBSD and learning more skills.
I'm this close to going full on #FreeBSD

Got it at last !
It seems I had to add the 192.168.0.24 IP address as an alias to the hosts network interface on 192.168.0.166
ifconfig re0 192.168.0.24 netmask 255.255.255.255 alias
Now I can connect from out with on a wired connection but not from my WiFi on the same network. Hmm...

Playing with #FreeBSD on my spare laptop and have successfully gotten a #Bastille test jail up and running. I can ssh into it from with in the laptop. But I think my understanding is a tad wrong ?
My laptop is on 192.168.0.166 and the jail named test is 192.168.0.24 with network access.
So as I said i can ssh into test no problems from withing the laptop on 192.168.0.166 but I cannot ssh into 192.168.0.24 outside of the laptop. Is this how it is supposed to be ?
Sorry for my stupidness I just assumed that 192.168.0.24 would be available on my home network too kind of seperate from the laptop ???

Does #Forgejo have federation now ? I'm hoping it'll mean if someone has say a Codeberg account they could log in to my Forgejo server ( once I've built it ) and submit a PR without having to create a new account on my Got server ??

I have a daft question and believe me I'm good at daft questions. Now that I'm on FTTP and I'm going to start hosting more services rather than out source. Am I best to have separate IP addresses for things like mail and web servers so if they get DDOS my own home internet on its separate IP would be OK and not affected ??? Or as it's all on the sane fibre connection would it not matter as a DDOS would affect it all ?
Did I just make sense to anyone ? 😂

I'd so love to do a skydive again. I last did it iat St Andrews in Scotland after raising £4000 for Stonewall Scotland back in 2015. What a blast it was and to think I was terrified as we climbed to 10000 feet in a small cesna that had a bit of scrap caroetcon the floor and wall to wall gaffer tape. To make matters worse there was no door either so every time we banked I was convinced I'd fall out. 100% absolutely recommend trying it at least once in your life.

Been reading up on the recently add fyi notification client and it's differences from notify-send and I think I'm going to give it a shot especially as I've just noticed it's available in the #ChimeraLinux repo too !
It'll be a nice addition to my #RiverWM setup.

I was off work the end of last week as had flu. I was shivering, sweating and sick too. Wasn't covid thankfully and today I'm feeling a lot better so I decided to see how #dwl was coming along and if I could make it work similar to how I have my #RiverWM setup. Well I succeeded and only used 8 patches. ( attachbottom.patch, gaps.patch, moveresizekb.patch, unclutter.patch, customfloat.patch, ipc.patch, restore-monitor.patch, warpcursor.patch )
Even found a useful tool called [dwlmsg](https://codeberg.org/notchoc/dwlmsg ) that allows you to change tags, get a list of outputs and other cool stuff. Hey I even helped fix their Makefile so it was posix compliant.
I'm using version v0.7-rc1 of dwl.

Been very busy today and still not finished. Ripped up the old carpet in my #HomeLab room. Bought a new one and then fitted it. Built a new rack and assemble another desk for me to work on other equipment and build stuff. Still got the servers to relocate from their old cupboard to the new rack. Even have my reclining thinking couch in there too. Getting there though. 🙃

Now I've got my #FTTP connection running at max I better start getting the move sorted. All our home networking stuff has been in an upstairs cupboard for a good while. But I'm gutting one of the spare rooms putting in new carpet and giving it a lick of paint. I will move my desks in with PC setup and the thinking sofa. I also ordered a 19" 12U server cabinet to house all the network equipment and servers. I have cat7+ cables ran all around the property and yes I could have run fibre but that's for another project as Julie would probably murder me if I invest in too much tech gear at once. I must say though getting to buy and do all this is like Christmas for me LOL.

Originally on my PC Engines router with #OpenWRT installed I was getting 560 by 100 but I discovered the packet steering option and enabled it as some folk said YMMV. Well I'm glad to say I've doubled my download speed. I'm well happy ! 😂

So I think I have all my routing issues resolved re servers and UniFi WiFi . I have a wee small issue where I have an extra wan6 interface that fails but I think that can be removed as the wan_6 is up providing ipv6. Checking I have both ipv4 and ipv6 up and running. So the bogus wan6 interface that just fails might require deleting.
Speed wise using this PC Engines APU4 on @npub1sv0…rq9x I'm getting max 560Mb by 100Mb on a 1Gb by 110Mb service.
Not sure if it'll get faster in the coming days or my router is the bottle neck ? Time will tell I suppose but it sure beats my old VDSL 30/3Mb connection which is getting terminated tomorrow hopefully.
