my instance has been alive for 4 years, with a 4gb database. I don't think that's overly bad.
Settled on Mastodon due to the web ui, mfa support, and administrative tools. I love gts just wish it was more fleshed out.
Prob best to just spin up a cloud server instead of self hosting. And find a cheap s3 storage bucket
