Easiest way to see bitcoin’s value proposition is to consider the following scenarios:
If you have 750K in the bank, it’s relatively easy to get to 1MM. An 4% return gets you there in about 7.5 years with virtually no risk.
On the other hand I would argue if you have 7.5 bitcoin and wanted to get to 10 bitcoin, that is a ridiculously difficult road with even an above average income and under control expenses.
And like most things in life, those that are harder to attain are worth more.

Is dollar amount on lightning a more important NgU than bitcoin on lightning?

Even though I don’t like ordinals, fees going up to $50-$100 makes them completely irrelevant as a jpeg trading mechanism. Short term problem.

Insert biweekly commentary about how Tether market cap continues to explode increasing the pile of fiat that is able to quickly buy Bitcoin.

Don’t really intend to be a Tether cheerleader (don’t care for it one way or another), but the market cap is skyrocketing lately. More money trying to escape fiat system.

Bitcoin holding pretty strong today despite 10y rates up over 10 basis points. Love to see it.

Fake ETF news today is an important sign post for where the market is right now, indicates approval would mean higher prices and the eventuality of an approval lessens the risk of holding bitcoin.

You can at the same time defend permissionless use of bitcoin and claim that spamming the mempool with useless junk is antithetical to the mission of bitcoin.

2023-04-28 15:53:00 GMT

The fact that equities are broadly up on the day of what is likely to be the 2nd largest bank failure tells you all that you need to know about our current situation.

2023-04-19 14:57:35 GMT

Ordinals don’t in any way advance the mission of bitcoin, but aren’t inherently harmful.

Large enough companies to matter acquiring bitcoin will almost always have some disclosure, I agree government entities are likely to keep quiet.
My point was more of a price momentum argument. Whatever the number is 2x 5x or 10x more interest next cycle it will do so with less liquid supply and be faster and more violent than before.

2023-04-17 14:58:00 GMT

People are going to have to get used to the idea that bitcoin doesn’t generate yield.

Promoting crypto allows you to get paid in fiat for delegitimizing the thing that will unseat you from power - bitcoin.

Pierre’s video has done more for the environmental narrative than anything since bitcoin’s inception. Doesn’t matter that it’s satire.

Someday it’s going to seem archaic that we had to have a 6-digit code sent to our phones to log in to every single website that holds PII.

2023-04-05 13:23:21 GMT

While the momentum has turned somewhat in bitcoin’s price (upward), the sentiment among the public still remains quite negative. Still waiting for the event that marks a shift there, could be anything like another corporate treasury allocation or a nation state strategically buying or even something we haven’t considered. But NgU is a very powerful force.

2023-03-23 15:05:19 GMT

I’m not quite sure how rappers claiming to use CashApp to facilitate crime implicates Block, they could use Venmo or their bank account just the same. Same old don’t blame the technology, blame the user.

Those that denigrate the sanctity of bitcoin block space do so because they do not denominate their life in bitcoin. When you reach that point, you then understand the need to maximize its potential as a monetary asset and things like ordinals belong elsewhere. There’s no such thing as improper use of bitcoin, but individual incentives will drive behavior and expectations.
