Either one of us could meditate on the answer to find an answer, but only one of us will find it quickly, and that's assuming the shop lets you have that time.

So, you advocate for not considering happiness and/or well-being. You're more in-line with the non-stop factory approach where humans are just used for the betterment of the whole.
(Oh... and, I've ran the CNC machine with very minimal training... crashed a Haas VM-1. The machine was fine, the Iscar tool was fine, the vise had a nice 1/2" divot in it)

You're thinking of more along the lines of meditation... analyze the problems afflicting the world.
Analyze all the illegals and everyone, and if the illegal or whoever can be useful, let them stay.
The problem then becomes "so, the illegal can pick apples... is he or she worth letting stay versus someone else?"
I'd be fine driving a tractor 12 hours a day for $9 an hour (as long as I can get to the farm... no drivers license).
It's all thought, until it's spoken/typed.
Contemplating an individual thought can end up in a reciprocal/loop Hell.

I agree, Katie and all.
If MAPs and AAMs were accepted tomorrow, that'd be awesome, but it's not changing overnight.
I remember reading about parents marrying their daughters off during hardships for supplies, and child marriage is still a thing in some of the Eastern areas.
For MAPs to be accepted and legal here, they would face the 85° uphill climb (in the present climate)... the hate crimes for MAPs are universally much more brutal than when LGBT was making its stand (sorry to say).
It comes down to how society perceives us, because that's how they were raised (religion, formerly predominately Christian of some version... and, let's not start hating on religions) influenced how they were raised. Society perceives us as child molesters and sickos. And, somehow, being trans or gay or wearing drag got associated (in some circles) with being pedo (which made that seem "evil and wrong"), even though the two are totally different.
It would take is a very carefully worded law defining ages and everything, and for society to accept it... and people to not try to gun down any MAP or pedo on sight. Society is okay if you are a former inmate for murder or whatever, or a former drug dealer who did time... if MAP was legalized, I'm sure there would be tons of hate crimes. Maybe eventually, it would get accepted in general society, but non-MAPs are probably always going to have a problem with it.
Personally, I would love to see a law like that passed, of course, including the consent part (mandatorily for the consent). The problem is, trying to organize anything just labels you as fitting into the category, and people will always find where you live. Hanging a flag that nobody knows the meaning of in your window isn't going to suddenly raise awareness... it might invoke a person or two to ask what it means, and when you answer that you're attracted to minors, they'll be grossed out because 'that's so wrong'.
