Those Sony Vaio computers were cool, I remember some of the early ones had minidisc players built in back when people thought that technology was going to catch on. One of my friends had one and the Sony minidisc Walkman which was badass at the time.

Don't they already use something similar with those CAPTCHA things that can detect if a computer program is trying to access a website based on the way it interacts with the webpage? I'm guessing a computer program can just be made to mimic human mouse movements or whatever but Idk. It's going to get really retarded online going forward. I'm planning to just fully exit the internet at some point.

I think that dude was the original podcaster. He had this livestreaming talk show that people could call into via Skype in the early 00's, I think he called it "Web-O-Vision" or something back before the word "podcast" existed lol. I used to watch Norm Macdonald on there.

I've never played any of the weird Steam/mobile versions of old school games, I'd be curious if anything is different. I tried the DS version of Chrono Trigger last time I played it and I thought that version was pretty neat. I've only ever played the PS1 version of FF7.

I have not played Myst in probably 30 years, but I remember the one brother (I think the red one) tries to trick you into completing his book instead of the other one or something and I think they had different endings. It was definitely unique and innovative for the time, I miss when PC had high IQ games like Myst/Riven. I was big into King's Quest and Space Quest back in the day, that whole genre of games is largely dead.

I haven't played the base game in awhile, but I think there's one more big map section after the snow area. I think the map after the snow area is the big ass tree area with the city and that part is pretty sweet. Everybody complains about the Melania boss but the area leading up to it is super fun and it's probably the most fun place to invade people because there's a lot of verticality to sneak up on people. I think you will be fine to do the DLC if you are that far. 🤷🏻‍♂️

2025-12-26 06:09:36 GMT

- reply

Ah yeah I forgot you gotta do Mogh to get into it, I remember that one bleed attack he does is annoying. I played the shit out of that game when it came out, then I played it again shortly before the DLC came out so I had a character prepped for NG+ that I could use to just jump into the DLC. The DLC is really hard at first, it takes a bit of finding these branch items to level up your gear to do any real damage. There's a separate upgrade material just for the DLC so you can enter it from different points in the base game and it scales properly. It's pretty cool though.

Shadow of the Erdtree was fun. I actually just got the Elden Ring Nightreign game since it was on sale. I can't tell if I like it yet or not. It's kinda cool but it's very weird. I don't usually play multiplayer games but it's kind of cool as a cooperative thing.

I haven't seen Star Trek since Voyager. I did see the first remake/reboot movie in 2009, but at least that one had Leonard Nimoy return as future Spock or whatever... So it kinda felt like it existed in the same universe as the old school films. I dropped off after that one.

I actually really like the style of the older games before they went 3D. The sprite based character models in fully 3D rendered environments with the grid based battles works really well. I do like the newer hybrid version they have in the remake (which I'm guessing is similar to what's in the later games like Reverie/Daybreak) but I found myself often just smashing up enemies without entering the command battles to save on MP points or whatever and it gets kinda grindy. Honestly I think what they have in the newer games is better than the FF7 remake system even if it doesn't look as flashy.

It's just rinse and repeat go into TV land whenever someone shows up on the TV and then like 50 hours in you finally find out the uncle guy's detective partner was the killer and he just goes crazy all of the sudden.
