You're aiming to provide *experience* and a migrating config like docked apps should be part of said experience. The end user doesn't need to know what DE they're running, they don't even have to understand the concept of a DE.

it makes sense for some other values, like max post length, which even though not configurable, is defined by Instance object and app devs can adhere to it. But Mastodon doesn't specify this. GoToSocial has an extension for this (configuration[accounts][max_profile_fields]). Pleroma has an extension under its own namespace (pleroma[metadata][fields_limits][max_fields]). Mastodon doesn't.

2026-01-18 20:20:04 GMT

why does this say 'by default', not only it's not configurable on Mastodon, but the values are not specified in /api/{v1,v2}/instance

ok, for Ladybird i had a way simpler workaround that turns out not to work with Servo, i confused this bug with a previous one when Lexical was not working on it at all

2026-01-15 17:45:04 GMT

- reply

without --enable-experimental-web-platform-features it doesn't handle UI breakpoints and I think JS routing doesn't work. the most annoying thing otherwise is incomplete SVG support (i guess i'm waiting for this?). and the Lexical-based text composer doesn't work so you can't post stuff.
for now i could just detect Servo and conditionally use a textarea-based composer, i think i was doing it for Ladybird for a while.

2026-01-15 17:27:22 GMT

pl-fe works (meaning it doesn't crash while loading, not that everything works) with servo again, no change on my side
