Was just feeling nostalgic, thinking bout how the pubs my parents ran used to do chicken and chips in a basket. If you were a kid in the 70's and 80's chicken in a basket was a win. A quarter or a half chicken, crinkle cut chips, a token salad, you were winning.
We used to buy those baskets in for pence, less than a plate cost.

If I was a billionaire and was holding a rally, and someone got shot instead of me, a loyal supporter, I'd get their medical bills, big bouquet of flowers. Maybe buy their house for them. Take time to personally thank them for their support, if they're disabled, make sure I'm getting the cheques, and apologise for the state of security, and promise them we'd get to the bottom of it.

...and my point is this. The nonmuslim vote for Palestinian liberation and the ending of genocide is huge, much larger than the Muslims could manage even with astonishing and unseen levels of social cohesion on the subject, and I'm not saying Muslim voters shouldn't be woo'd or respected as the group with the most sympathetic core values to the plight of the Palestinians, of course they should.
But they are far from alone, and the media is trying to segregate our sympathies from theirs.

Tbh, we're not idiots. Polls have shown that British sympathies lie mostly with Palestinians, even if they do believe Israel has a right to defend itself as an occupational power, the anti-genocide conviction is enormously strong, and quite rightly so. Tens of millions will be on that spectrum of opinion, and for millions of those it is quite enough to prevent them voting, or vote for a less hawkish party.
Meaning the potential nonmuslim predominantly white vote against genocide is enormous.

Voter turnout was estimated at 60%, a low turnouts, theres all kinds of if, buts, and shenanigans about that official stat, it's nowhere near 60%,of 50 million. Even taken at face value, Starmer caught about 37% of those. Behind both peak Blair and Corbyn.
If every Muslim on British soil didn't vote for Starmer and that seems unlikely, since many will to get rid of Tories the same as everybody else, they're not that clannish anyway, the Tories weren't about to stop supplying arms to israel

yeah, if you can get all the nitrogen into an algae or a seaweed, you can basically just use that as slow release fertiliser again.
Oddly enough aquaria have long used algae scrubbers to get nitrate out of the water, you can end up with sheets of the stuff. You wouldn't eat it, but you could fertiliser certain plants with it.

Back to animal shit, living soil and cleaner watercourses. More diet variety and not so much wheat and corn, which we're getting more allergic to all the time. Much healthier.

Ultimately we'd all be much better off if we changed our expectations of food crops, planted more crops that infused the soil with nitrogen, balanced the soil for minerals, mycenae, and fauna, used less commercial fertiliser.

no, it's already molecularly changed form and bound to the water, it would take some encouragement to reverse the process and bind to solids. It would take something like setting up an enzyme rich rice paddy with algae and not letting the water escape and letting it dry out, then you'd take the silt, blend it with fresher organic material and use it as topsoil. It's done commercially by sc-Co2 extraction. You almost have to emulsify it to reclaim it.

yes, and you'd still test the water quality because farm spill is so prevalent. You'd want to test all of them for heavy metals, organophosphates, excess tannins, and biological activity before drinking any of it.

Well, as I told a bunch of first year animal care students the RSPCA had been talking absolute bollocks to on fish health and water quality.
You don't have to guess. You can test.
Water quality can be tested for all sorts of chemicals at home, and for the complex stuff like waterborne diseases, you can send samples off to be tested.
Given RO is wasteful of water, and serious filtration to a level that includes disease is expensive, do the testing.

Those in the tropical freshwater fish hobby will of course know, that since the early 2000's cryptosporidium outbreaks have got more frequent as profiteering water companies became more prevalent and neglectful in their duties. The captive fish tend to get killed off en masse before the humans get noticeably sick.
It's one of the reasons UV sterilisers got more popular. Because water companies would likely kill the fuck out of your fish every few years without one.

Britain wastes over 1trillion litres of drinking water per year, just through leaky pipes. Then add reservoir mismanagement, terrible flood infrastructure and so on. The rain in the last 3 months could provide drinking water for two years. Nobody's catching it. No marshlands, they keep letting it piss out to sea.
Britain does not have water shortages. It has hosepipe bans and crooks.

oh you can buy big tanks of water and stuff, there's no real water shortages in Britain, ever. Britain is wet as fuck. Our water companies waste almost as much water as most of the population uses. It's they that cause the shortages through greed and incompetence.
Most people in Britain have to choose to be off grid to have water availability issues. Privatisation has caused the water quality issues. From plant issues, to leaks, to reservoir mismanagement.

there is a stream here, it runs clear and washes over chalky gravel, a quick boil and it would be drinkable, except for the farm nitrates getting into it. In a complete infrastructure fail, we can get water here, it's just getting the fertiliser out is very difficult and expensive. Drink it without processing and you be dead in a year with kidney failure.

Not really. It would have too many nitrates in it due to farm fertiliser and cowshit, and it would need three stage reverse osmosis to clean it up. The one thing I know after being an aquarium pro is water quality.

I and the kitties have been drinking only boiled and cooled water since the start of the pandemic tbh. Been washing up and bathing with disinfectant in the water too. Given I live somewhere they can't even stop the water processing plant from flooding, and people have caught covid from toilet plume and drain gas,I figured it was prudent.
